Had you tried taking vitamin B6? It's supposed to help with this, but I think you'd need a larger dose than you get in the general multivitamin tablets. Go to google and search on "vitamin B6 luteal" and you'll find loads about it.

Twiglett, you should also look into the herbal remedy Vitex Agnus Castus which can help women "regulate" their cycle and extend their luteal phase. Some other veteran TTCers know more about this than me but when I was TTC and doing charting to check my luteal phase length I read quite a lot that suggested Agnus Castus could be beneficial for this particular fertility issue.
Not saying it's a substitute for progesterone, though. I'm not a medical person but I thought the main effect of Clomid was to stimulate ovulation. And I thought that luteal phase deficit was caused by a lack of progesterone in the body at a crucial phase of the cycle, not by lack of ovulation immediately prior to the luteal phase. So, yes, I wonder if your consultant is barking up the wrong tree here, certainly as far as Clomid is concerned. Surely if the tests you have had with her show you are ovulating, then Clomid is not going to have any additional benefit. Hope others who know more see your message.

It you are having a monitored cycle then could you ask for progesterone as well - I would have thought that it would do no harm provided it was definitely being given post ovulation. Clomid is often just used to "regulate" the cycle, not just to induce ovulation.

As clomid has such a high success rate by itself it may be that your consultant wants to keep things simple. I know mine only introduced the Cyclogest (progesterone) once I was using injections to stimulate ovulation.

Doubt they will give you progesterone unless you're being monitored though as you need to take it post ovulation.

And whilst you may be sick of sex, don't give up on it yet. Scientific studies have proven that it aids conception :0
