Hello, I got results from my blood tests today and they show that I am not producing enough hormones to stimulate ovulation ? a friend of mine has suggested acupuncture does anyone know if this works ? any other hints or tips would be much appreciated.
Thanks x

Were the results of the blood test properly explained to you?.

What hormone levels were tested?. Presumably it was LH and FSH (these are usually tested early in the cycle) or progesterone. A level of 30 or above would indication ovulation with regards to progesterone. I ask about LH and FSH as well because these two hormones kickstart the whole ovulation process.

Do you have a diagnosis?.

I would also ask for a referral to a subfertility unit if your GP has not already referred you.

Still undergoing further tests for a diagnosis at the moment, have to have scans etc., I only spoke to the nurse this morning regarding the results haven't seen the doc about them yet, she just explained that all my hormone levels were very low and that I was not producing enough hormones to be ovulating
That's all I know at the mo was just going to try all I can to help things along naturally whilst I'm waiting.

Hi Happy faces - attila asks good questions. It is true that acupuncture can help to stimulate ovulation. Don't go to just anyone from yellow pages though - try to get some recommendations and go to someone who "specialises" in fertility issues. Will be much more helpful to go after you have met with doc and had your results explained to you as this will help the acupuncturist know how to help you. Reflexology can also help in some women. Doc might also suggest drug called clomid which helps stimulate ovulation. Has some side effects for some though not all women. There is loads on the www about both clomid and acupuncture. Try some of the baby making websites such as www.fertilityfriend.com; www.fertilityfriends.co.uk and one called www.tcoyf.com (stands for take charge of your fertility) Good luck!

I would just like to say that in Sept 02 I was told the same thing and by New Year was pregnant with DS1 (now have 2 boys).
