DH bad sperm results - help and advice needed!

Hi there - we have a DD who is 3 1/2. She was conceived with no problems. We've been ttc#2 for nearly 2 years and have finally got round to being tested.

My tests were all fine. DH's were not.

Volume - 7million
Motility - 50%
Morphology - 4%

Does this suggest DD was a fluke??!

What do those results sound like to you?

What are our options? We've been referred to a specialist. Is our only hope going to be IVF or such like?

What can DH do to improve quantity and quality?

Thanks
BM100

My DH had normal count and motility, but low morphology. He's only had one SA and it was recommended he go for another as sperm counts fluctuate all the time. I'm sure the consultant will run through all the scenarios with you, but they'll likely first recommend some lifestyle changes - as in lots of fruit and veg, no smoking, no drinking, no caffeine, no baths/saunas, no bike riding, loose boxer shorts and so on. They might also recommend some vitamins and minerals - zinc and selenium being the most common. There are also studies that show L'Arginine, L'Carnine and Pyncognol might also be helpful.

There is a great Male Infertility board on fertilityzone.co.uk that I've found particularly helpful.

Some people have had success with IUI, for others they recommend IVF with ICSI. Good luck!

My ex DH had a similar count and we got a dd.

I have seen on another thread that someone wrote there DH/Ps count was improving through acupuncture had been tested before and then after a number of sessions.
might be worth looking into if you into that kind of thing.

Also if you look for proxeed plus on internet(quite expensive but ingredients are listed and you can get them seperately from health shops) has been proven (with scientific tests) to work on counts.

Good luck

Thanks for your suggestions and replies. I've suggested accupuncture to DH tonight - he's still feeling a bit sensitive about the results so I'm treading carefully!
thanks again.
