Ok, well two weeks ago I had AF - red blood but a bit lighter than normal and only lasted 4 days as opposed to usual 7/8 days. Not sure when I ovulated so did bd on days 9,11,13 & 14. Yesterday (day 16) My tummy was very very bloated, dh even commented on how it had grown since the morning! Quite sore crampy pains down below and pains on left hand groin side, oh and nauseous for couple of days. I really hope I am pg but surely it would be too early after bd to feel anything? I would really appreciate your advice and your own experinces. Thanks in advance, Ali

Could you be having ovulation pains? Maybe do a test to check you are not pregnant. good luck! My period was only 4 days this month - I haven't tested again as I think it would be very unlikely that I had a period and then was pregnant, but who knows!

I thought it might be ovulation beanieb but I've not had pain like that any other month, but that counts for nothing I suppose. Thanks for your quick reply. Cheers for the bump MoreTeaAnyone x

Maybe I should go and test too!?

Morning beanieb - I really don't know what to think. I've resisted the urge to poas this morning, in the hope that if I am pg a darker line will show if I test tomorrow. I have been on the net like a mad woman since yesterday and I have read stories of people who have had a positive result this early on so I suppose it is possible the September AF was a real period and I conceived 9 days ago?! I think you should go test again; I'll keep everything crossed for you x

Oooh - How do have the will-power
Maybe you ovulated earlier than you think? Or perhaps it just wasn't a period? Will keep reading to see what happens tomorrow. Don't think I will test again but will wait to see how soon I get a peak on my monitor.

I'm trying not to get too excited - the exact same scenario happened to me in March and it turned out to be an early miscarriage. I won't be entirely happy until I miss my October AF but I will test tomorrow and keep you updated x

Ah I hope you are!

I did a test 4 days before I was due cos I had that stupid metallic taste in my mouth that I always get, and I got a negative, then the day after a faint positive, then a few hours after another negative so I was well cheesed off, so I waited till next morning, got a clear digital and it was positive, I am 6 weeks on Sunday.

So I would have a go in the morning, cos I tested about 11 days after I think I conceived with the clear blue digital and it picked it up so fingers crossed for you!!!

Charlee, I know how you feel ; it's a bloody rollercoaster of emotions - I used to go from beng teary to seriously fecked off. Do you have a Poundland shop near to you cos they do a pack of 3 HPT's for a pound. That's what I've used in the past and they've always been right, plus you don't feel so bad using so many for only a couple of quid. I'll update tomorrow ladies x

Wasabepeanut that's a great idea - do you know how sensitive they are, I wonder if they'd pick up at this early stage? Well I tested again this morning using poundland test and got another + although it is sooo faint, I felt a bit down as I would have expected lne to be bit darker than test I took on Wednesday. DH said though that maybe beacuse it is so early on (AF not due for another 10 days) that maybe line would still be faint at this stage. Also did superdrug test whch is more sensitive and that gave a clear + line but I'm still not convinced. Going to leave it for another couple of days before I test again but it's going to be hard

Alibobster - is it possible that you conceived last cycle?

Report
Alibobster · 03/10/2008 12:25

Don't know, I did have AF on due date and i did have normal associated pain with it but it was a bit lighter and didn't last as long, although it was red blood

Yes, it must have been from last cycle - unless you ovulated very early this month. It would not otherwise be possible to get a positive test 10 days before your period, as the baby would not have even got to the uterus yet so no HCG to measure!

If your last period was not quite normal it is much more likely that it was either an implantation bleed or a bit of spotting in early pregancy and not a period at all - ie that you were in fact already pregnant.

The thing that's worrying me Mags98 is the exact same scenario happened to me in March and it turned out to be chemical pregnancy.

Well yes, that is a possibility, but it would still be very very early, likely way too early to show positive (assuming it was a normal period) unless you ovulated early this month. The earliest possible detection of HCG on a blood test (not a urine test which needs higher levels) is 8 days after ovulation, you can't get HCG until implantation occurs as the HCG is produced by the placenta (or the bit of the embryo that will go on to form the placenta). Do you know when you ovulated? You need levels of at least 10 or in some tests 25 HCG in the urine to show positive on that, which takes another few days.

I have had a chemical pregnancy too, so know where you are coming from on that one!

wasabipeanut · 03/10/2008 12:58

The Clearblue test should work. I'd be very surprised if you concieved this cycle it is so early to be getting positives. You might just be getting faint positives because of the brand of test or something. The amount of Hcg does vary a lot so who knows?

I think you need to zet your mind at rest on this one!
