Conception

Is it too soon to test? And am I being paranoid anyway?

Yep, name change! I missed two pills in a row in the first week of the pack (Dianette) when I forgot to unpack them on holiday. We had quite a lot of sex during those two days (sorry if TMI!). Once we realised I'd missed the pills we then used alternative contraception for the next week but forgot a couple of times (I swear we are normailly really responsible, I don't know what happened).

10 days on (but still with 5 more pills to take before the end of the pack), I'm having period-y cramps (lower abdomen and back) and feel sick on and off but am also genuinely unwell (tedious summer virus) which could be confusing things. Do you think it's too early to test? Do I need to wait until my period is actually due?

Thanks!

so is it 5 days before your period is due?

Really more like 8 - tends to be about 3 days after the last pill for me. Thanks!

If it's 8 days then I think tomorrow would be too early really - maybe you could try Thursday or Friday as a lot of the tests are supposed to be sensitive enough to pick up HCG levels at that point - but if it's negative you'll still need to do it again next week to be sure so you might want to save your money. Buy a two pack of tests for definate! Can I ask how you think you might feel if you were pregnant? Sometimes a scare can clarify things and you either need to sort yourself (or dh) out with something you can forget - or ttc

Thanks NL! Will try to hang on til end of the week!

It wouldn't be great timing but it wouldn't be a disaster either - the usual "oh but we're moving house/later on would be better financially/would love some more time with just the two of us" woes but not the end of the world by any means. I used to have a contraceptive implant but was a nightmare for me so pill (and possibly some kind of alarm set in my phone!) is really best option for us I think - as long as I actualy remember to take it!

sounds like you are fairly well sorted then - hope you get the answer you'd like if/when you need to test.

I agreee with NL, a bit early to test, but still the pills that you missed mean than it is possible that you ovulated in that first week of your cycle, as in essence they add onto the 7 days that you ahve already missed when you had your period, so if you are a good ovulator, 9 days of no pills could be all it takes.
Add to that lots of sex and you might well be having a suprise
Good luck wiht it all
