Morning ladies...well after 5 years together, a wedding, house move and countless other major and minor events, DH and I have decided to start TTC our first child!

I've been waiting for this moment for AGES...but DH has finially got his head round the prospect of being a parent and so here we are about to start 'trying'...

Anyway, just thought I'd say hi...wish you all the best or luck...and look forward to sharing good news with you all soon-ish...

Is anyone else as new to this lark as me?

Hey *FlirtyThirty",

I'm new to this aswell.

Got married 3 months ago and decided to try for our first. I'm 34 and decided that time was definitely running out but didn't want to have a child unless we were married (just old-fashioned I guess...).

There's loads of great people on these threads and I've been given loads of advice already.

Other than working out when your OV is due, just keep on BDing every other day!!

That's about the best advice that I've taken away from this so far. Just be careful not to start reading symptoms. I'm really starting to read everything and as we're in the first month of TTC, know that I will be disappointed when AF arrives....

Hi Dawn!

I'm 31 very very soon so no spring chicken myself! And DH's 10years older than me. I completely understand the marriage then babies traditionalism...I feel much the same. (For me that is, not really bothered about anyone else's choice).

Am going to do my level best to stay realistic about this and not let it take over my life (who am I kidding!?). Will definitely be on here for advise though...there is SO much to consider it seems...

Hey Flirty,

I know what you mean about trying to stay realistic. Some days I read everything, but when I'm occupied doing other things, I don't think about it so much.

I'm hoping that initially it's just the novelty and then when you get to Cycles 3 and 4, that it just becomes the norm and it doesn't effect you so much, but I'm not convinced .

I think for those of us who are 30 and over, the pressure just seems so much more...

Anyway, welcome and let's aim to be there by Xmas!! . Seems to me though that the pressure of the first 12 weeks is almost worse than getting there in the first place... There's been lots of miscarriages and chemical pregnancies on here which is quite scary....

I like the Xmas goal! I will aim for that too.

And as for the miscarriages and chemical pregnancies - I have seen that too.
I knew miscarriages were common but had never heard of CPs before! But then I don't think I'd fully appreciated the monthly window for concption was so small either. So much for a good education!?

I have made a pact with myself on testing too. My cycles are 25-26 long on average, but I've had one at 29 days when i first came off the pill. So, I'm never going to allow myself to test before day 30. I can see it'll be VERY hard but I think if I do anything else I'll go potty and bankrupt!

I'm almost in the middle of my cycle now, but i'm sort of writing off this month anyway as I'm off to have a smear test next week. I'm just happy to be on the road to being PG to be honst. I'm hoping the novelty doesn't wear off too quickly...

hi all, well i feel a bit of a fraud as mine are now 19, 16 and 13 but as i am with a new dp, it seems so long ago and my body feels completely different and we have recently decided to try for one of our own it is strange it feels like first time around for me - i had forgotton all the signs and everything!

i recently purchase OTC tests to check when i am OV, and now i have some symptoms that could be in early stages of PG, but could also be signs of AF - aaaagh i also promised myself i would stay realistic - i did do a test but it was BFN so was either done too early or i am going to have AF!

i like the idea of the xmas goal too! er time to keep my feet on the ground i think

keeping my fingers crossed for you deanychip!

Can someone please tell me what all these abbreviations mean? I'm new to this. What is BFP? What is BD? What is AF? I take it DH is dear husband? etc for DC, DD and DS?
Just started trying for a baby. Been using ovulation strips this month but you have to use them first thing and I keep forgetting!!
Now I have a damn yeast infection! (sorry if TMI!) So will miss the boat this month. Really hoping to get preggers quickly but I guess it's less likely if you get too anxious about it?

Hi Wantbaby,

I was exactly like you a couple of weeks ago!!

There's an acronym list at the top of the page...it has all the abbreviations or at least most of them there!

Hello all,

I'm losing track of all the threads that I'm on now!! I have to just go on and look through to see if I've submitted a message -

BSL I've definitely seen you somewhere before, !!

Well, officially 2ww now and already starting to symptom spot. But only 'cos I had a positive OV test on the 29th June and then another one on Sunday!! What's that all about?! A faulty test kit I'm guessing... So BDd for the last 2/3 weeks every other day just to be on the safe side!!

Now have low abdominal pains, almost constantly through the day, sometimes one side, sometimes the other. CM seems to be fairly active too... TMI ..

On CD21 and generally have a 35 day cycle (although only been off the pill for 3 months but regular 35 days so far). Strange that I've never had these pains before though, other than small twinges the week before AF. But currently 2 weeks before AF so not quite sure.

Probably spotting symptoms that I wouldn't have noticed though, before TTC...

Oh well - !!

Thanks BSL. Spotted the list after I sent that post. Any idea what CM stands for as in 'CM seems to be fairly active too...'
