ie. you use your friend's egg and carry her baby?

i have been told that if friend has problematic eggs, then there's no point me trying to surrogate with her eggs because i'll have the same rate of success as her. does that make sense?

anyone know about this?

I dont know anything about it, but yes it does make sense although also it could be something like her eggs aren't 'compatible' with her body/uterus/etc but they might be with yours, so its worth a try i guess.

apparently, it's the egg that determines success rate / downs syndrome chances etc. so if you have the egg of a 24 yo, you'll have a 24 yo's chances of downs etc.

my friend is already in her 40's and she's not likely to harvest many eggs from ivf, so the 'worth a try' approach isn't going to work for her really. she'll try ivf herself, and might not have any left over, or might only have 1.

has anyone had success being a surrogate in these circumstances?

i know a couple of surrogates who are currently carrying host IVF twins throguh the same process you talk about, and both the mothers (who the eggs belong to) are late 30's or early 40's

glaskham, i know it's a personal question, but do you know the medical reason the mothers couldn't carry the eggs themselves?

one had no womb but ovaries, and one just couldn't concieve with her own eggs, her womb was a 'hostile' environment....

try joining Surrogacy Uk for some more info, i was going to be a surrogate for some friends but it all broke down a few months ago, luckily i didn't get pregnant, but i was straight, so using my own eggs!! am currently ttc for myself before going back to surrogacy
