Help....I think I am going mad.....Opinions required

I will start from scratch here. Please excuse me.

2dd's and 2 mc's at 15 weeks in November and 8 weeks in March. I am now in my second cycle since last mc.

I have always been very regular of 27-29 days with obvious ovulation and af symptoms at same time each month.

However, last month was 33 days and well this month................ That is where I am stuck.

I am now cd37 and thought that I may have ov'd on cd 23, but I am not sure as there were no real obvious signs. I decided to take a test last week and thought I may have seen a line so I decided to go to Doctors. The Nurse did a test on Thursday, cd33 and I waited 5 mins and she said I could be pregnant but the line was very faint but definately there and that I needed to test again.

I am really worried though as I have had no signs of af and I always get a very sore chest just before af. I certainly had this with all my other 4 pregnancies, but nothing this time. When I went to the bathroom today, I did notice a very small amount of ewm, the same as on cd 23. All I keep doing is visiting the bathroom, but nothing more.

Does anyone have any ideas???? I think I am going mad. Now I have to decide what to do.

Why dont you do another test, if it is positive it would be a lot stronger today.

ScaryHairy · 02/06/2008 16:31

It does sound like you might have had a positive result.
I get EWCM when I am pregnant.
I think it is worth doing another test - splurge and get a digital one.

Good luck!

I would wait a few days and test again.
If you are indeed pregnant there should be more of the hcg hormone and you will perhaps get a stronger line.
If a pregnancy test continues to give an uncertain result and you still get no af then I would ask your doctor to do a blood test to check for pregnancy.

Your body could be in a muddle from your last mc and disrupted your cycle a bit.

Hi, ScaryHairy. How soon after do you think that EWCM appears after conception. Does it make any difference to the timing of testing.

Sorry to ask.

Hi, i got EWCM about 7 days after conception. good luck !

Some women notice EWCM or increased discharge after conception - it's not a hard and fast sign (sorry!), but certainly on the symptom spotters thread a few posters have reported an increase.

With me, I can't remember when it appeared but certainly it started before my period was due and just kept on going.

It won't make any difference to when you can test.

HCG (the hormone pregnancy tests check for) doubles roughly every 2-3 days in a normal pregnancy, so if your last test was Thurs and you are pregnant, with any luck you would get a clearer result today.

I am rrreeeaaallllllyyy mad at myself

I have just used a test that the Nurse at our local surgery gave me on Thursday to use at home today.

I have waited all weekend and went to use it this morning. Unfortunately you are supposed to get a pipette to use, but I did not so I used an old medicine syringe. I tried to drop seven drops, but pushed too hard and dispensed a load untill it was overflowing.

I did get a second blue line, but now, bacause I would not wait for a pipette, I think that this results may be false. Is that possible?

I really think that if you keep getting a second line on tests, you are pregnant, regardless of how many drops of wee you put on the test.

Pregnancy tests work by showing whether there is a detectable level of HCG in your urine.

If you have a second blue line and it is in the right place on the test then it sounds positive to me.

If anything, I would have thought that putting too much wee on the test could dilute the HCG and so could lead to a false negative. The fact that this test has come up positive suggests to me that you are pregnant.

(And what a stupid test, requiring 7 drops of wee. People must get that wrong all the time!)

But if you are in doubt, please splurge and buy a test from the chemist.

What is EWCM please?

Report
Thefearlessfreak · 03/06/2008 13:51

Sorry - sounds like a positive to me too; 3 false positives would be quite unlikely.

I was wondering what was happening with you! I tentatively agree with the others: it does sound like a positive test, even if you used too much wee.

Have the ebay tests come through yet?

I would get a digital result and then it is there in words. Good luck.

Please can someone tell me what EWCM is?

EWCM = Egg White Cervical Mucus

Yes. I did not bother with internet ones as I had an appointment with Doctor. They are much better in helping me and she said to come back at any time.

I am making another appointment with her so that she can do it for me again and then she can refer me to the Midwife and let my Doctor know.

There is more ewcm today and like you say I have had three sorts of positive now. Maybe I ought to let it sink in a bit. But after 2 mc's in 7 months I am scared. I wanted to be really sure. My Consultant wants to see me as soon as I get a positive to prescribe asprin , but the last time I went at 6 weeks I had to go back in a week as there was no heartbeat. I really worried and when I went back at 7.5 weeks I had miscarried.

I suppose there is loads to think about.

I got loads of EWCM straight after finding out I was pregnant the last time and for the first four weeks or so. I've never heard it called EWCM before, I call it girlie juices myself.

I think you need to face up to the fact that you are definitely PREGNANT! Congratulations! I've had two MCs and two healthy pregnancies so totally understand your concerns Singingintherain. It is hard. Take care of yourself, try, try, try not to worry too much (yeah right!) and keep smiling.

Singingintherain, of course you are going to find it hard to relax and stop worrying, but it really sounds to me like you are pregnant.

Please try not to stress too much. They'll get you in for an early scan hopefully, and everything will be fine.

Hi

Sounds like you are pregnant- as previously mentioned if you use too much wee you can get a false negative.

Check again with a first response or something like that if you want further confirmation but I'd get in touch with your consultant asap. If he wanted to put you on aspirin as soon as you have a positive test then that is definately now.

Best of luck.

I have decided to call my Consultant directly tonight. I do not live in England and so have to also have private medical insurance. They are very good with me and it enables me to have both state health care and my private. I sometimes prefer my state care provider for its locality and quickness to see a Doctor. The problem is with this is they do not always speak English and language is a real problem. My clinic is one of the "All under one roof" types, where have our own consultants, x-ray, maternity. It is like a hospital without the beds iykwim.

I am going to tell him how I feel and hope to sort myself out soon. I know he will scan me as soon as he can, I just worry about scans all the time.

I just wish I could feel pregnant. I did the other four times, but nothing this time. Still waiting.
