hi,just joined today and hoping someone might be able to help me work out if there's any chance i could have concieved this month!

my cycles are normally 26-27 days long.

last period was 15th may. i used fertility friend and it told me my fertile days were 22, 23, 24th may so this is when dp and i had sex. i had negative opks (clearblue digital) right up until 23rd and then a positive on 24th, just after we had had sex.

we then didn't bother again but me being how i am - checked again yesterday lunch time - 27th and got another positive - then another yesterday evening - unfortuntely my partner is now away on business so no chance of any action!!

does anyone think there is any chance of having concieved this month? were we too early?

any insight appreciated - and anyone know what the first positive was about??

did you notice any fertile cm?

I would be more inclined to go with the +ve opk's.

Are you sure they were positive OPK's because they can be notoriously hard to read?

If you had sex on the 24th only, then it's not impossible for the sperm to survive a few days if the conditions are optimal. If you had sex on the 26th/27th, then all the better!

I highly recommend the cb digital OPK, it does the reading of the test for you and takes the am I/aren't I? out of OPK'ing.

Maybe try it next month unless you're pg. Good luck!

Thanks squack. I thought i had fertile mucus when I got the first positive but it didn't really peak if you know what i mean - didn't notice and yesterday but some today - but more thick and cloudy than i would expect for true fertile mucus (sorry for tmi)

i am using the cb digital - the ones with the smiley face - definately got the smiley face on 24th and then again yesterday - gone today though so does that mean I ovulated yesterday? or possibly monday? (didn't test monday...) if monday then i feel a bit more hopeful as it was late saturday we had sex.

does anyone know how long the smiley face would remain after ovulation?

The appears when you are surging and normally you have sex when you see the first one. I see them for two days and from charting my cycle know I O on the second day of the .

The first one could be the beginning of the surge with the trigger for the egg coming on the day of the last one iyswim.

Did you notice a dry sensation on any of the days, that would indicate 'peak' fertility (O) the day before, which might help you pin-point a bit more accurately.

Failing that if you don't get your period 11th June (going by 27 day cycle) then you could do a test.

Good luck!

OPK's are problematic to use because a woman can have more than one LH surge throughout the month, the kit does not actually make that fact clear re usage.

Such a surge also is not automatically followed by ovulation (the kit assumes that women only have one rise in LH every month, this is not true).

TBH I'd stop using the OPK's as they are more trouble than they are worth!.

thanks both of you. so it's probable the second surge was the correct one - in other words - the last time I had sex was a full 3 days before I ovulated!! Oh well

I think a better strategy, certainly for me, is to have sex every other day from the end of your period until your period is late, then maybe test.

This way you generally cover it. Certainly if you do use the OPK you should continue having sex daily, if possible, from the start of the surge/ until you have 3-4 dry CM days.

I agree with Attila though about the use of OPK's being a hassle.
I do believe they can delay O, by testing and getting stressed by the lack of , then it becomes cyclical , the stress delays O, which in turn results in a lack of

I'm a fan of the cb digital and have used it myself this month, I'm glad I did otherwise I might have missed my surge (I O'd significantly earlier this month), but I generally don't have irregular cycles.

3 days prior to O is not a total loss, my first LO was conceived from sex on a monday, but didn't O until friday! Dh was away that week and I was charting, so I'm as sure as I can be of the timings.

Anyhoo, good luck for this month and if not, then happy shagging for next month

have just had some light pink/brown bleeding which I think (hope) is probably an implantation bleed. Have had some period like pains for the past few days and sore boobs - so here's hoping - will keep you informed!!
