Conception

When is a line not a line?

Oh god!

I have had several weeks of symptoms. Exhausted, nauseous, brown bleeding. We are trying to conceive but had fertility treatment with the first so not really getting our hopes up.

Anyway, had a very odd bleed 3/4 weeks ago, lasting 1 day. Since then I have had the odd bit of brown blood. Have done about 4 tests over the last week, all have been negative.

I did a test at 5pm, and it was negative after a minute. I wasn't really expecting a miracle so I went downstairs to prepare dinner. I've just come upstairs to run DS's bath and there is a line on the test. It is faint, but it is a line....am I pregnant?

Could be an evaporation line sorry you are supposed to read the tests within 10 minutes.

What I did is do one normal wee test and one in water as a control for comparison as I wasn't sure, was the faintest of faint lines on the wee test but nothing on the water one.

so how many days late are you now?

I dunno. In my book a line is a line is a line. Have you got another test?

Is it a faint coloured line or just a colourless shadow? If the line has any colour of the ink of the control line then I expect its a BFP. If it has no colour then it may be an evap line.

Normaly evaportaion lines are greyish, if it has any colour it could well be positive. Am pg with no 2, did a test 3 weeks ago which i thought was negative, went back for some reason half an hour later and there was the faintest faint line in the world on it. Waited 4 days, repeated and bingo, proper line. Good luck.

have a look at this site: www.twoweekwait.com and go to the pee stick gallery (on the left hand side of the page).

there are lots of close up photos of HPTs of varying results.

it might help you compare with the result you have

I've done hundreds of these tests over the years and have never seen an evaporation line before!

I've no idea if I am late or not as I have PCOS so am completely irregular but this is compounded by the fact I am still breastfeeding so haven't really had a period since before I conceived my son in February 2006.

The line is faintly pink. I do have another test so I think I will prepare myself and then try again. It is one of those early response tests.

Ok, have done second test. This time the line is fainter than faint, it is barely there. I asked DH to put a pencil line where he thinks the line is and it is in the same place where I think it is.

But it is very, very faint.....could it be?!

could be, if the second test was read within the time

fingers crossed for you.

Is it s first response or an ebay early response?

I only ask as Disenchanted had false faint positives on the ebay ones recently

Everything crossed for you though!!!

It isn't an ebay first response. It is a Sainsburys First Response Test. We watched the faint line develop so definitely within the right time. Actually it is getting stronger and is visible from arms length!

I can't believe it. It took 2 years, 2 operations, medication and much hope to get pregnant the first time. We are now officially in shock....

smellsofroses...I had this with my first pregnancy as well. It is just when I wipe and not all the time. The midwife told me last time it was old blood.

I had very bad cramping a few nights ago and put that down to PMS. I cried at Happy Feet yesterday!
