Hi Everyone, I'm new on this site and don't know alot of the lingo sorry. Just wondered if anyone has overcome multiple probs when trying to get preg. I've PCOS and my hubby has a low sperm count thanks to mumps. We've been trying for a year and a half and the Dr has just prescribed Clomd. Really hoping this does the trick. Hoping you guys have some sucess stories from being in the same boat! Thanks.x

The first thing I would ask is whether you are actually under the care of a gynae at a subfertility unit. This is far more adviseable in your situation than say for instance your GP prescribing you clomid.

You've actually got two main problems to overcome - the PCOS and the male subfertility. Both of you ought to be seen regularly by the specialists and not just left. Your husband should have repeated sperm analysis to see what both the numbers and motility (this is also important) are like.

Would say that clomid is not always suitable for all PCOSers but there are other treatment options available if this does not work. Its usually prescribed for a maximum of six months. You should be monitored regularly whilst on this drug treatment - no monitoring is a no-no as you have no idea whether its working or not otherwise. It will also not address any male subfertility problem - he needs to be tested in tandem with your investigative tests being done. He may also need to see a urologist.

Thanks Attila. We're under a gyne and have had my hubby's sperm analysed twice so far. The gyne wants to check my blood results (day 21) to see what's happening regularly when i start clomid so i feel like we're being monitored well. I've already had a laparoscopy and ovarian drilling so think this is the last thing he wants to try before IVF.
