Conception

I'm finally pregnant again (and scared)

I had a mmc last February followed by an ep in August. Now after 6 months of trying I'm finally pregnant again. (I was rapidly losing hope). I'm only 13dpo and the line is quite faint (but it came up straight away). Surprisingly I have less symptoms than on bfn months. I've had some cramping since 6dpo. I'm hoping that's a sign it's in the right place. I'm so scared that it's ectopic again.

I don't really know why I'm posting this. I guess I'm just bursting to tell someone.

Jess - make sure you go and have an early scan - your GP should refer you or go to your EPU at about 6 weeks. Then they will be able to tell you that this baby is in the right place.

Good luck xx

My friend who had two ectopics needs blood tests every two or three days when she's pregnant, as this can give an indiction of whether it is ectopic or not

and then she has an early scan as well as bellie says

Thanks everyone. I've just done a clearblue test (first one was an internet cheapy) which came up positive straight away. I'm hoping that's a good sign for 13dpo.

I'll be going for a scan at about 6 weeks (if I get that far). When I had my ep they told me that scanning before then wasn't always useful.

jess, they can scan you before 6w, they saw my ds at 5w. congratulations and take it easy!!

yes, I agree with Lissie, a scan earlier then six weeks should be done to rule out the possibility of an ectopic - I really hope you have good luck this time jess.

I will go to the docs next week and see what they say. Part of me doesn't want an early scan - I just want to bury my head in the sand.

Have an early scan, I had mm/c and it took 5 years for me to get pg again, with fertility treatment. I was completely paranoid and had about six scans before I was 12 weeks, the hospital were fantastic, but did eventually tell me to calm down!

Have a scan, a heartbeat seen now is a really good sign so it will put you more at ease.

Hi, congratulations on your pregnancy! I can appreciate why you're so apprehensive (having had a mmc and a 'regular' (??) mc last year). I echo the sentiments about getting an early scan but I just wanted to let you know my EPU are loathe to scan before 8 weeks, so unfortunately when you get an early scan can vary depending on where you live.

However, I did go to my GPs as soon as I got my BFP and they did weekly blood tests to measure my pregnancy hormone levels and it was nice and reassuring to get those every week and know that they were going up the way they should.

Also, my symptoms didn't kick in until week 6 either.

I've made an appointment to see my GP so hopefully they'll refer me to early pregnancy. I did another test this morning which was darker than yesteday. Also sore boobs have kicked in. I am having mild af-like pains on and off - don't know if that's a good or a bad thing.

Anyway, thanks ladies for all your kind comments. The next few weeks (or maybe 8 weeks) will be tense, but I'm just taking one day at a time.....

If GP doesn't suggest early scan make sure you ask for one. When I got pregnant again after mc I was able to self-refer to my EPU and arranged the appointment direct.

Good luck with it all - I know the next 8 weeks will seem like forever but they will pass eventually . Oh and dont worry about the AF like pains - I had them too and am feeling fat and hormonal at 22 weeks!
