Hi ladies,

I am coming off the pill this week (take last one tomorrow!!). Am very excited but also a little anxious. Wondered if anyone had any inspiring stories about coming off the pill ie: lost lots of weight/ felt more chilled out / increased sex drive etc etc.......

Am not coming off to ttc immediately but it is part of the plan in the coming months.

Have to say I didn't experience any of those - but fell for DS 6 weeks after last pill. Good luck x

Oh....maybe I am getting my hopes up for nothing! I've been on since I was 17, now 25, so I'm just really looking forward to having normal periods - rather than pill induced bleeding.
Also I seem to get quite bad mood swings lately so was hoping that might disappear......

I found the mood swings got better. And I'd always had a bit of nausea with the pill so it was nice to get rid of that. I had one normal period after stopping the pill then I didn't have another one for nine months...

He he...there seems to be a theme here! It is OK though, we've stocked up on the condoms....

Hi,
I didn't notice much difference after coming off the pill (had been on it 10 years), but was pregnant 2 months later so not sure i really had time to notice any patterns of change!
Wasn't ttc either - just one 'unplanned' night at the right time did the trick. Was pleasantly surprised it all still works fine!
Hope you feel good whatever happens

I felt much better being off the pill except not being 100% sure when my af would be.
But I got pg as soon as I came off so it didnt really matter.
Depending on who you listen to you are meant to be most fertile in the 3 months after you come off, yet my gp said it was impossible to get pg straight away, but I know have ds so!

I was on the pill for so many years I didn't actually know how long my natural cycle was. When I eventually came off pill, af returned and 28 days every month. Got pg the first month off pill but had mc, then got pg next cycle after mc. Currently ttc whilst bfing with no af in sight! Bonkers or what!

Oh and coming off pill increased my sex drive.

I got pregnant when I came off the pill by accident (holiday, forgot to take them with me, only seeing DH for 1wk - bingo DD conceived) Kayzisbroody - I'd change your GP!!

Can't say I noticed much difference that time but suppose I was pg so wouldn't. This time however I keep getting a spot or two erupt on my face so feel like a teenager again!! Least I can afford decent concealer now though - LOL

Cosmogirl, I also felt hornier after coming off the Pill, which was a fab bonus! Also as the Pill decreases some of your vitamin and mineral levels a bit you may be a bit healthier not being on it... I also felt better that I was having a natural cycle for a change. It did take 5 months for my periods to return to 'normal' though, although to be honest I was taking Agnus Castus in the last few months to lengthen a short luteal phase... which it did. Also fertility doctors sometimes put you on the pill and then take you off again in order to heighten your chances of conceiving...

When I was on the pill I never really felt like me - I always felt slightly down. When I came off it I felt 500% better - very happy, cheerful and content, sex drive increased and I really did feel I was back to being me. Conceived DS a few months later.

Scotlass, I was given 8 due dates 2 months apart.

Hi,
I generally got quite bad headaches when I was on the pill, they did get better and less frequent when I came off the pill. That is until I got PG with DD 4 weeks after coming of the pill and got those awful first trimester humdinger head aches

Coming off the pill made me sooooo randy. Was great!
Plus I got pg, which was great too

Felt better almost straight away after stopping the pill in the January. Started ttc in April (but too late I now realise, when you've spent your whole life trying NOT to get pg you assume it'll happen first time ) finally got pg in the July. Had really unpredicatable cycles as well - anything between 33 and 36 days!

Thanks ladies - I'm liking the sound of some of your post-pill experiences. Who's going to tell me they lost half a stone? [hopeful]....

I came off the pill in December, just because I felt it was messing with my body too much. Feel much happier, as the pill seems to induce quite weird emotional problems, made me feel upset when there was nothing particular to feel down about. Also lost a couple of pounds, bonus! Also stopped getting the bad headaches..

Lol Kayz!! Seems lots of people have the same scenario post-pill....

Mymeems - I too get the depressed, anxious about nothing feelings at certain times of the month. It is very frustrating, so I am really hoping it disappears now I've taken my last one this morning!

Psychobabble - don't! You are scaring me! We aren't planning on actively trying until end of year and so many people seem to fall pregnant straight after coming off it! I'll see how DH feels about abstaining for a few months .
Seriously though, we are planning on using condoms until we are ready to take the plunge, so to speak....

Myjob - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Wow, that is fantastic news - you must be thrilled. Gosh are you super fertile or what? Hope I am as lucky when my month to start trying comes around. Hopefully by that time my cycle will be back to normal [whatever normal was!] and I will be able to spot when the egg is dropping and all that malarky!
Increased sex drive off the pill definitely makes sense, obviously mother nature trying to get us to go forth and procreate Hope you have a great pregnancy, I will look out for your birth announcement...and just thin, when you are welcoming your LO it will almost be my turn to get started!
