PERSONA Sticks - anyone know what the blue line means?????

I've been lent a monitor and did my first test the other day, it made me get a red light but I presume it's because it needs to get to know your cycle first? So not necessarily meaning you're at risk of getting pregnant. Anyway, turns out I need to wait for one more cycle til I use this monitor so I'm scrapping that this month. One thing I did notice is that there was a blue line on the test window. I took this as being the test worked but the person who lent it me thinks it's something showing egg hormones???

I'm having a worrying time about possible premature menopause (only 31, it runs in my family) and get blood test results next week to let me know whether or not I have started it - desperate for another baby so fingers tightly crossed I've not started it!

Anyway........just started thinking about that test stick again and would love to know what that blue line means - in case it's a good sign for me.

I've checked the manual, the internet etc and can't find any info - anyone know???

Do you mean one blue line in the window of the stick after you've wee'd on it? If so that is completely normal - you always get that and as you approach ovulation another line shows up which gets darker (and then I think the lines swap over if I rememeber correctly but it was 9 months ago that I last used it!) until you ovulate, similar to ovulation predictor kits.

The first mobth you are just programming it and shouldn't really use it for avoiding pg - though no harm for you trying to get pg, and it should ask you for almost 2 packets of sticks. The second month you will only need one pack and it should tell you when you ovulate (if you do - mine didn't come up every month) - you get a little circle sign with an egg in.

Make sure you completely reset it before you start otherwise it will get confused with your friends cycle.

Thanks, it was all reset so that's fine And we ARE trying to get pg - desperately!

My friend was round last night and insists the blue line means some kind of hormone but I want to be sure!

So, from what you are saying, the blue line doesn't necessarily mean I'm ovulating????

The machine tells you when you are ovulating with a circle with a dot in it - and this corresponds to when the blue line that is there at the beginning switches to one next to it. The best thing to do is just wee on all the sticks it asks you for this month and keep them in date order side by side - then you can see the pattern of lines. you probably won't get the ovulation sign in the first month while it is programming itself but you will see how it changes as the month goes on.

Your friend is right in the sense that the sticks are producing the lines in response to hormones in your wee but it is a certain level or combination of hormones near the middle of your cycle that indicates you are ovulating that you are looking for. Once you get the hang of it I am sure it will help - I conceived both mine by using Persona to work out when I was ovulating and then having lots of sex for 2 days as soon as the symbol came up.

have you looked at www.persona.info/uk/whatispersona.cfm?

It might explain it a bit better as it is 9 months since I last used it and I have lent it to a friend so can't look for you. I remember saving all the sticks one month was really useful though as it showed what the machine was detecting.

Thanks, I know about the monitor side of things and have read the manual but it says it won't be accurate until I've had 2 natural cycles. So, because of my worry about possible Premature Ovarian Failure, I just wondered if I could sort of put my mind temporarily at ease if the line was a good sign - does that make sense? Anyway, if the result next week shows I'm ok for now, the Dr has told me I need to get pg asap so I will do the monitor properly and keep the sticks too - that's a good idea!

Anyway, I got a line on CD6 and today I've had some EWCM (today is CD9) so I'm HOPING that this is a good sign?

you should see 2 lines, one v v strong (test line) one which will get stronger (like a pg test is the test line) when they 2 are the same you should see the 'o' on your moniter.

Looneytune - I used persona to conceive my second child. I also have a family history of POF and was worried about how long I had left. Barbamama explained it well - the first month uses almost 2 packs of sticks and programmes the machine, the second month you are more likely to use less sticks and get the 'O' symbol.
Good luck

Well according to pipsqueeke, I should be showing something soon as I've just got 2 lines almost the same. Test line is slightly darker but maybe tomorrow?????

I've been writing on the last 5 sticks so I can see what's happening. I'm on CD13 today but unfortunately I can't test tomorrow unless I manage to get some test sticks today.

Anyone know where I can get the test sticks from???? (everything so far has been given to me by a friend)
