Maybe clutching at straws but.......................................

My period is now 3/4 days late.

I tested on day 28 with first response and got BFN.

Tested on the morning of day 30 with clearblue digital. Again BFN.

My question is did anyone get one or more false negatives and go on to discover they were pregnant?

I apologise profusely for clutching at straws like this but have been TTC now for 15 months and I am normally very regular at either day 26 or day 27. I have been getting cramping on and off but AF just isn't showing.

I am going to wait until next Tuesday and retest if AF has still not arrived and then see a Dr if I still get a negative but just wondered if anyone had any experience of false negatives and also would like some support whilst waiting.

Thanks.

How many DPO are you? 'Early' tests can only pick up HCG levels at 10 DPO and 'normal ones at 14DPO. Will look out the stats for you, hang on....

The percentages of those who get their BFPs on set dpo are as follows:
10dpo=35%
11dpo=51%
12dpo=62%
13dpo=68%
14dpo=74%
15dpo=80%
16dpo=88%
17dpo=92%
and there are some who have not got their BFP until 21dpo

Hi my lovely hut dwelling friend

I don't know to be honest, although been at the TTC game for long enough have never got into the charting/temping business, we just proceed on basis of sex 3 times a week or more if can manage it.

so could be well over the DPO and simply clutching at big fat straws but until AF does show what else can i do?

Work is certainly one thing!

Don't worry about the name! (and most people call me nomore if that helps) Just hope BFP turns up for you soon.
Assuming you have a 'normal' cycle I'd guess you ov'd at day 12 or 13. It could be as late as day 16 (time from ov to AF is usually 10-14 days) In that case at the outside you're only 12 DPO, so hang in there 'Worst' case you're 18 DPO and AF has got alzheimer's and wandered off somewhere without telling anyone where she's going...of course you could be 18 DPO and still be one of the few who's BFP doesn't show until 21 DPO.
Hope it works out for you.

Thanks again nomore

You never completely lose hope do you until AF shows up and i have never been this late before, but from my constant lurking today on other threads can see there are plenty of others in the same lifeboat.

Going to try and put it to the back of my mind over the weekend, summer has suddenly turned up here again

Have a lovely BH x

With my first BFP I was AT LEAST 17 maybe even 18 DPO before the lines were even slightly visible to the naked eye. (Used First Response...which is suppose to be to of the line and earliest detector.)I just said to h%$$ with the piss test and went straigh away for a blood test. It confirmed it for me and gave me total peace of mind.

NOMORE

i GUESS YOUR STATS WERE RIGHT.

DH talked me into testing tonight (day 35) and I got a BFP!!!!!

I am living proof there is such a thing as a false negative! and even when testing the day your period is due and 2 days later!

It is now really 8 or 9 days after AF would normally arrive and finally a BFP.

Thanks so much for your support

Thank you Tigger, Nomore and Anniemac ,

Anniemac, you definately should not lose hope, see stats that Nomore helpfully posted further down this thread.

When I was pregnant with DS I managed to wait 4 days till after my period was due before I tested for the first time and got a BFP.

The fact that some tests say you can test 4 days BEFORE you are due, or on the day of your period, is just so they can make more money out of us.

I was so depressed when i tested on day 28 and got a BFN (which was really 1/2 days after I am normally due) and yet I was pregnant then.

Good luck and glad you had a brilliant holiday.

Sorry about BFN Anniemac and thanks for not being of me, you are good. Just remember it took me 15 cycles to get my BFP so there is every chance you can and will get there in the end x
