I remember SmellyMelly posting on a past thread on this subject - just wondering - how many days before Ovulation did you stop having sex when you conceived your girl?

Hi tessiebear - Oooh my name in a title! I'm honoured

I started 5 days before ovulation, then the next month went down to 4 days, and so on. But after 3 months was getting impatient, so on the 4 month, I actually bd'd on the day before ovulation, as soon as the line appeared on my opk. But we cheated and used a douche of diluted white vinegar beforehand and I swear it was that that got me my girl!!

Thanks for replying so quickly SM What solution of vinegar did you use? And (silly question) How exactly did you do it (splash it around or put it right up there IYSWIM) Basically we have been BDing daily since AF finished (am on CD 6) and was going to stop on CD 11

I used a solution of 1 part white vinegar to 4 parts water. The water was boiled and cooled to be safe, and I used a plastic syringe (nicked from ds' medicine cabinet!)

And I put it right up there!!!!! (before bd'ing).

cd11 sounds ok, but it does depend on when you ovulate. If you are doing it 5 days before, I'm not sure I would worry about the vinegar. But then if you really want to make sure....

my dh wouldn't put his willy anywhere near vinegar . He's sensitive enough down there how'd you get your dp to do that???

Don't worry, I wont tell any 1.
I am shocked though. Especially as u were really worried last month about the fact that u might be pg.
Also make sure that u r not going into it just 2 get a girl, as whatever u do there is a pretty good chance that it could be a boy.
We have both heard of people we know trying the timing thing & ending up with the opposite sex 2 the 1 they were trying 4. It's all down 2 chance at the end of the day.

I know what you mean Blueteddy. The last few months every AF i think i am pregnant and it has got to the stage where i was accidentally on purpose missing pills in the hope it would be an accident. Discussed it with DH and he (obviously) was up for it!!! Having the odd moment of doubt but i know we are going to do it at some point any way so i figured we should do it before the age gap gets even bigger!

BTW - re the ttc a girl thing - i figure that if we try all the methods and it still doesnt work then it is fate and i was never meant to have a girl - if we never tried then i would spend the rest of my life wondering whether my next and last child would have been a girl IYKWIM

I mean, getting 2 kids independant & at school & then starting from scratch again!
Are u sure that if it is a boy u will still be happy coz 3 kids is bound 2 be pretty hard work.

That is a good way to look at it Tessiebear.

And to everyone else re. the vinegar - It is an old wives tales, that has been used for years and years. I was desperate for a girl, and I don't regret trying everything we did!

BTW he is now my ex-p!!

Dont say this Blueteds!!!!! Making me worry!!!! It has got to be easier with two at school come next sept! If i fall pg straight away then it will be due at the beggining of the summer hols next year, then i will have 9 weeks with no school run to get into a routine then come september DS's1 &2 will be at full time school

Well said SmellyMelly - when you want something badly enough you have got to feel you have tried at least. P.s Did the vinegar sting or cause discomfort? Also how long before you BD'd did you put it up? Also was it you who took Magnesium tablets?

I have a cold at the mo, which was caught of the kids (who else?!!) but other than that I am fine!
My sister is a lot better than she was, but still in some discomfort.
