Has anyone tried alternative therapies to help get pregnant?

I have a lovely 5yr old child but have been unable to conceive again after 3 yrs of trying. I'm with the same partner and we've both been checked out. My doc says there is nothing wrong with either of us but has suggested we try IUI. I want to know if anyone out there has been in a similar situation and has tried alternative therapies before moving onto IUI or IVF

I have heard that acupuncture can help but haven't tried it myself

Ooh mrsfossil my favourite subject!!
After an early mc my periods went bonkers and then stopped altogether. Had high testosterone and high fsh. Was due to see a specialist but in the meantime I had reflexology and accupuncture (both work on the same theory) and I also saw a healer a couple of times and got pregnant the week before appointment with specialist! Hurrah!
The most interesting thing is that my feet were swollen in the 'womb area' and the reflexology god rid of that and then I got pregnant! And now they're swollen again and my periods have gone mad again but not bothered now. One child is enough for me!
Good luck! xx

I had 2 mc last year, adn saw an acupuncturist (specialising in fertility and women's health) for 3 months before I even tried to get pg again - she regulated my cycle (it was shockingly short), and balanced my energy levels (don't even pretend to understand that bit)

Then got pg first month of trying again - and am now at 24 weeks - had more acupuncture in early pg to support the pg (and help with hyperemesis) ... I'd defintely recommend it, as long as you can find someone who is a specialist in Women's health issues ...

I tried hypnotherapy for fertility problems and I got pregnant a month later but had a miscarriage. Was pregnant again 2 months after that and went on to have a healthy DS. Good luck with the therapy you choose.

I would look at your problem slightly differently.

I would seek to determine whether you have had all the initial tests done. What tests have you both had done to date; my guess is that something has been missed and you've been mucked about. Do you feel that both of you have been adequately investigated, have you been referred to a subfertility unit for instance?.

Why exactly was IUI suggested?.

What doc have you seen, is this a GP or a gynae?. I would say as well that sometimes a "diagnosis" of unexplained infertility is given simply because the couple have not been adequately investigated and some tests have been missed.

If you have been trying without success for three years there is likely to be a fertility problem with either one or both of you.

Accupuncture may help relax you personally but it is likely it won't solve any of the underlying problems with regards to conceiving.

That's a shame you look at ancient treatments in that way Atilla. It really is a lot deeper than you think.
Ultimately everything in existence can be broken down into protons, neutrons and electrons - energy particles. Accupuncture works directly on that depth. When energy is not moving correctly things go wrong. Accupuncture can put that right in many cases. It doesn't work for everyone but then as this part of mumsnet proves, neither does modern medicine help everyone.
I always use modern medicine and ancient therapies because no one knows what their body will respond to so try everything.

i have been having reflexology and it wonderful. Certainly helped me relax. Also helped with painful ovulation and period pains and just generally feeling a lot better. Also tried accupunture but didnt like it.
