Had a mmc in jan. Decided to wait a while before trying to conceive again. Started getting really bad stomach acid a couple of months ago. Antacids help but don't cure it, have to keep taking them.

No obvious reasons why have it, so have to have tube stuck down throat, probably take three months for answers, and eitherway, answer is likely to be, well, still have symptoms, keep taking pills.

The thing is, they have no idea how they affect a baby. Doctor says; you decide. but remember, not getting any younger (31 for the record)

Don't know what to do. Really ready to start TTC now, but pills say don't use while TTC (never mind while pregnant) am going to try an alternative tablet, which might work, and is more often used during pregnancy, but all a risk!!

Plus, acid might well get worse during pregnancy! THEN WHAT!!

As I said, I know there are no easy answers, but I just don't know what to do!!!!!!!!!

Now is this because I have been lurking for a couple of months, been forgotten and so everyone thinks I am new, or is it just a boring question? HMMMMM

maybe not a boring questions but perhaps no-one is quite sure how to answer
FWIW if anything says don't take whilst TTC then don't TTC
I was on very powerful meds and had to put TTC on hold for a while
if you aren't happy with your GP then ask to see another one in the practice

Go Private for a quick answer.....not much help I know, but it'd speed the process up for you........have you tried any alternate therapy?? accupuncture?

Sorry, can't give you any answers but didn't want you ignored. Did the Dr really say "not getting any younger..." while you're only 31? You still have a way to go before your fertility is affected by age - 31 IS young! You have time to wait while you get this sorted out.

Thanks for the answers, the problem is that they can't find any obvious reason for the symptoms, so the likelihood is that I will have to take the pills for quite a long time.

Doctor is saying, life is a risk, you decide!! Which is not helpful, as I really want an indication of which way she thinks we should go!!!

Not tried anything like acupuncture for it, doing alexandra techinique at the moment, which helps with lots of stuff, but not this!!

Hassled, doctor really did say that, and things about fertility dropping off a cliff!!

Hmmm might well go private, the thing is, even if they find gastric problems, Doctor said, only solution will be, take the same tablets!! So doesn't exactly help.

Doctor has prescribed something I can try instead, that they tend to give to pregnant women if they feel sick. But not sure it will work!

(NB my doctor sees lots of drug adicts, who's babies are fine, (we live in central london), so seems to take a relaxed attitude to certain things!)

Hi Angua!

Have you tried tums. I think they are safe for pregnancy, and they give yo ulots of calcium. Failing that, have you considered visiting a dietician/nutritionist?

Do you know what I found really worked for me when I had seriously bad acid (during pregnancy so couldn't take anything and of course ant-acids only aggravate the problem cos stomach starts to make more acid in response)? I sat down and imagined the sphincter muscle at the stomach entrance and I visualised it closing and it bloody worked!! Amazing result! Also homeopathic kali-phos will help you and is completely safe during pregnancy. I totally forgot about it at the time! Kali-phos is great but try mind over matter.

Hey Eleusis

You know, its interesting, I had thought about going to see a dietician myself. Maybe I really should do that urgently. Will also try tums!

Manuka, the doctor has prescribed Metoclopramide, which apparently closes the sphincter muscle, will see what effect that has.

Have never personally had much success with homeopathic medicine (just never worked for me) but will definitly try them, just want something safe so we can start TTC!
