Could I be pregnant?

I have a son and a daughter aged 1 and 2. A week ago (midcycle) we had an incident where a condom split but, thankfully, we discovered it before ejaculation. I don't know how long it had been split, but it must have been a few minutes before we discovered it. My period is due on Sunday and for the last week I have felt very, very sick and unable to sleep at night - my mind is all over the place, and I can't shut down. I had these exact same symptoms between conception and when my period was due during my last two (planned) pregnancies. The thought of another one now scares me - I would have a 3, 2 and a 1 year old after a year!!! Talk about close together! How likely is a pregnancy under these circumstances?

I guess you can get pregnant at any time of the cycle when contraception fails. Sorry to be not more help. How about taking a test first thing?

agree with beachyhead - I take it you didn't take the morning after pill?

I think the odds of you being pregnant are quite low, especially if the condom had spermicide in it. As you say you noticed before he (cough cough) came. Mind you saying that if i was you id worry too, we do the withdrawel method so every month is a worry for me but for us it would be ok if i fell pregnant.

Your period is so close now you could do the early predictor test

JanetJJ · 18/08/2004 19:13

A pregnancy test wouldn't show a positive on day 23/24, surely?

The early one shows 3 days before your af is due

You can now buy tests thst can tell if you are pregnant before your period is due.

I got a positive 5 days before I was due.

Look for a First Response test - can't remember if it is meant to be ok 3 or 4 days before your period is due

When i came off the combined pill i never had a period and i got pregnant straight away - so it can happen - tho it can take a while for periods to get back to normal - do a test???

Janet JJ ~ first response test is for 3 days before af is due. I wish you well over the weekend but it might be worth doing the test as you sound v anxious ~ and to be honest I would too, if I were in your situation!

kelly....i would really do a test....you are showing the same symptoms what i had!! the first response test seems to be getting votes around here lately, or the clear blue digital

Following my original message, AF is now late (I am NEVER late) and I still feel sick and clammy.
I would have thought that the chances of conceiving under these circumstances were very small - wearing a condom (albeit broken at some point) and not (erm) ejaculating.
I am now panicing and am too worried to test. I am not sure I am ready to face three under three!!!! Help.

Titania · 23/08/2004 12:21

but at least a test would put your mind at rest and you can deal with the outcome knowing the result. have you bought a test yet? i have got 3 and at one point had 3 under 4 and a half.....tbh...the 3rd one just kinda 'slots in'
