Gonadotrophin/FSH injections

This is for a friend of mine. An ex-anorexic, she doesn't have periods and has recently started injecting with what she told me were gonadotrophins (which I assumed to be fsh injections).
I just wondered, how long can these be taken for? Is there a time limit as with clomid? If these don't work then is that it for her having a baby with her own eggs?

You may wonder why I didn't ask her about this myself, but I felt that I had been questioning her for long enough on the subject of her fertility treatment and now I am starting to worry about what if it doesn't work.

Yes I was thinking the number of months. I know with clomid they don't recommend taking it for more than 6 months.
I know she is having an LH injection if she gets enough (but not too many) good sized follicles. So maybe that means it isn't FSH that she is injecting with.
She said that yesterday that the follicles were only 7mm and she has about 5 days left until the time when they should be expected to be big enough so my mind got to worrying that 'what if these injections don't work?'.

I just really want this for her so very, very much.

I had the fsh injections post clomid pre-IVF. I only did them for two cycles, they said it wasn;t worth faffing around with them for long but to move onto IVF pretty swiftly. My fertility treatment didn;t work - if you want to know what happened next... I adopted. Others don;t have children. Those are the two basic options if you can;t get pregnant.

7mm with 5 days left is no indication of anything they don't grow venly but in fits and starts. They need to be about 20mm to be viable.

Thanks Suejonz - I have read some of your threads so I know your story.
So, it seems that there is still a reasonable chance this month and she's probably only got a couple of months till they say 'IVF' or they can do nothing more. To be honest, she says she doesn't mind massively at this stage if the child is from her body or her egg, she just wants a child.

sorry, I should also have added egg donation or embryo donation as options but there tends to be a long waiting list for them.

Rubles...the size of follicles seems to be random from cycle to cycle I have discovered today!

First cycle with injectables - CD11 follicles 14.5mm and 13mm
Second cycle - CD11 folicle 17.5mm
Third cycle - CD11 (today) nothing over 7mm

Weird!
I have done nothing different apart from have the jabs in the morning instead of the evening???!!!!
Don't give up hope for your friend just because it doesn't sound too good one month.
