Hi all,

I know there's a thread about TTC after MC but thought I'd see if there's anyone else about who are TTC after an ectopic? I had my ectopic in May 2012 when DS was just 4 months old and as a result I lost my left tube.

We have now started TTC #2 and are currently on cycle 5 but I'm getting increasingly frustrated as since I started monitoring my ovulation it feels like I'm only ovulating on the left side which is where I have no tube. I'm basing this on strong ovulation cramps on the left side. I know it's supposed to be random which side the egg is released from but I swear it's been on the left side for me for the past 5 cycles since we started trying. I've heard that in some cases the other tube can reach across to catch the egg even if you ovulate on the "wrong" side.

Anyone have any experience of this? Or anyone want to join me for what looks likely to be a loooong ttc journey?

Hi Karmanna,

I am trying to conceive after my ectopic last October. That was my first pregnancy and conceived pretty quickly (2nd month). I lost my left tube, and also had a big cyst removed from rt ovary. We have been trying now for 7 months and nothing happening.... trying not to get too upset about it but it is just so frustrating as it happened so quickly the 1st time. I've just had tests done as doc was concerned I wasn't ovulating every month but everything seems to be fine. I have an absolutely lovely doctor whose wife had an ectopic before going on to have 2 more children, he has said he would be staggered if i didn't get pregnant again naturally, and confirmed that the tube can indeed catch an egg from the opposite side. The only thing that is making me not lose hope at the moment is the fact i conceived once already so know I am not infertile, but it is so hard month after month when nothing happens!

The most infuriating thing is when people say 'just relax and it will happen'!!! what do they know haha!

anyway good luck and hopefully we will both get preggo soon!

x
