Hi,
I've decided to finally give temping a go. I've avoided adding it to my already long list of armoury while TTC.
So I have read -

*Orally is fine unless the readings are inconsistent. I can do it vaginally but only at the start of a new month, not in the middle of a month after starting orally.

*Must be taken on waking, after a min of 3/4 hours sleep and at the same time each morning (within 30 mins)

*It's best if I temp for whole months so start on CD1.

*Some will see a dip on the day of Ov but not all.

*My temp should rise after Ov and overall I should see lower temps pre-Ov and higher post Ov.

*I can draw a coverline to make it easier to read. I should look at my temps from CD1 -CD6 find the highest and draw a line on my graph .1 degree's higher?? Or is there another way ?

Is there anything more I should know/do or have I got the basics to get cracking?

Thanks.

I would sign up to Fertility Friend - brilliant charting site and as you enter data (temps, CM, OPK results etc) it works out when you ov and draws the cover line for you! I always thought that the only way of knowing you ov'd was by a dip in temperature followed by 3 temps c. 0.6 degrees higher than your previous temps. There has to be a dip, if not you probably didn't ov that cycle (I have PCOS and had several long cycles with no clear dip to indicate ov!).

I would def chart your CM and CP as these can indicate ov as well and maybe invest in some cheap OPKs off EBay/Amazon.

Erm.....can't think of anything else. Just bonk EOD until you see a clear rise in temps and good luck :)

I'm another fan of fertility friend, it does all the hard work for you and also lets you chart all kinds of signs and symptoms. Good luck!

Thanks for the replies and the info about FF. It's good to know there's something to do it for you because I was already wondering how long it'd take me to balls up the chart doing it myself :)

I already monitor CM and CP and also use OPK's so that part's easy :)

Thanks again.
