Hi all,

Hoping for a bit of advice. My lovely dh and I have a dd and a ds already but have decided to ttc #3. We have waited a few month from deciding as we needed to get a few things sorted ..bigger car,dh had health issues etc.

So we finally started ttc this month :) :)
I have been under the ent department for a about 18 months for balance issues and was hoping to be discharged this time as had some tests done last year and no problems showing, However at my last appointment they decided I know need a brain mri as I have an eye problem.

Question is should I keep ttc whilst waiting for the appointment .... can you even have an mri if I were lucky enough to get a bfp before the appointment date.

I have worked out that my af will be due the day before the scan (1 months time) so if we did get lucky this month it might still be to early to show a bfp.

Hope you dont mind the long post. Any advice would be very welcome

As far as I know, having had a few MRIs myself, being pregnant isn't a problem when having the scan as long as the hospital know you are pregnant.

Hello,

I'm a medical physicist so have seen questions like this before -MRI scans carry much less risk in pregnancy (believe it or not one of the main hazards in later trimesters is the acoustic noise...babies don't appreciate the loud noises made by the switching of the gradient magnetic fields!).

If you still have concerns, just talk to your consultant or the radiographer and they will be quick to allay your fears Thanks

Blush sorry...that should have said "MRI scans carry much less risk during pregnancy compared eith other imaging modalities, particularly CT which uses ionising radiation"

Thank you for the replies. Dh and I have decided to put ttc on hold for the few weeks before the scan as I need to have it and our hospital won't do them in first weeks of pregnancy.
So I've decided I'm really going to try and track my cycle this month. Bought some ovulation tests to just to make sure I'm ovulating. Then hopefully we will be all good to go the month after :)
