I've been posting here for a while but name changed.. Quick background, came off pill dec 2012 having been on for 9 years, no period until July 2013. Went to my gp in the April who did first bloods and referred me to hospital gynae dept. Day 2 tests hormones were normal but day 21 (obviously as no periods) showed no ovulation.

Hospital referral for both external and internal scans inconclusive - "May be small cysts", but told me I have pcos. Always at least 12 weeks between gynae appointments, lost test results etc.. Had period in October 2013 and December 2013.

Referred for hycosy - had period January 2014 so booked hycosy - had this and all clear. After this, regular periods every 30-32 days, with clear ovulation confirmed by both temp and opks (except one cycle which ff thinks I ov'd late and was a 42 day cycle).

I don't think I have pcos. I think they diagnosed me way too soon and all that was wrong at the time was my periods hadn't restarted properly following pill.

Had my most recent appointment with consultant for dh SA results (low morph) who said my latest day 21 was 'normal' and showed ovulation had occurred but then gave me a three month course of clomid while they refer dh to a urologist... I asked the consultant whether I should really be taking clomid as I am ovulating each cycle and she said "it's up to you"! I've done a lot of reading about hyper ovarian stimulation and so on, and it doesn't appear to be a medicine which should be taken without being monitored and she just says "it's up to you"?!

I know I've rambled on, but my point is, that apart from one weird cycle since January I know I've ov'd every cycle so should I take the clomid? I've been thinking about maybe taking it for one cycle and seeing how it goes, but it looks as though it's mostly male factor stopping us at the minute.. I don't know what I should do and the doctor was just so unhelpful!
Any advice/insights/voices of experience welcomed!

Thats a hard one. I had clomid and genuinely needed it. I didn't get my bfp from it but it did regulate my periods (which I wasn't having at all) so it was useful from that point of view. My suggestion would prob be to try a month and see if your cycle feels any different. Id suggest taking it in the evening too sleep through the side effects. Good luck

Thanks for the reply, I think some doctors seem to just throw it at people as a time wasting tactic from some of the stories I've seen on here. I tried phoning for an appointment with my gp to see if he could arrange scanning for me but no appointments for a couple of weeks :/
Did you periods stay regular and did you get Bfp yet?

They did I got my bfp about 4 months after I stopped using the clomid. I will be 12 weeks tomorrow! Ask to see a different gp for a second opinion the wait is a pain but the docs will be quicker than the hospital I suppose!!

The hospital are ridiculous, and apart from this one gp who is also a gynae, the rest of them are rubbish and I'd be better off waiting :/
Congratulations on your Bfp :)

Its rubbish isnt it. My specialist was brilliant but the waiting was stupid. I hope it works out for you!
