Hi
We have one child conceived naturally first cycle around 5 years ago.

We have been trying for a second child for two years. I had a gut instinct if that's what you want to call it that we wouldn't have any more children and so we went for tests really early on.

They showed that dh had very poor quality sperm despite a reasonable count. The motility is around 20% and morphology 2% and apparently even the best looking ones look 'odd.'

We've had two cycles of ivf.
The first one gave us 9 eggs but by day three even though they all fertilised with icsi we only had one 6 cell left.

This time we had 9 eggs again, 6 fertilised and they transferred a 6 and 7 cell on day 3. The rest gave up the ghost. They divided well but didn't compact. I've given up already for this cycle.

We always have low fragmentation. But the embryos are slow. I'm only 31 and ovulate normally. We did short protocol both times.
My clinic has mediocre results, just below national average, so I don't know whether to give up or try somewhere else. They've basically told us we've little chance even with icsi. I can't get my head round a first month conception to fertility treatment being unlikely to work.
No one has ever given us an explanation for this.

I still feel very certain that we will never have another baby and that makes me feel depressed. I know I should enjoy my only dc but I feel guilty and sad all the time that they are an only one.

Is it likely the sperm causing these problems? Even with icsi? The clinic described them as having 'strange features' but I can't remember now exactly what they said. Sperm second time looked better than first time.

Should we give up? Go with a donor? Look for a blastocyst donor abroad? Obviously we've already wasted £10k on nothing and can't go on indefinitely.

Thanks to anyone who has experienced similar or has any advice.
