Late AF - Very unusual, any thoughts or similar experiences?

Hi Ladies,

I am a newbie here and would be grateful if can you share your thoughts or experience on this scenario.

I am now day 32 of my cycle, periods are normally regular but I am mid-thirties and I have been diagnosed with mild PCOS very recently after a period of TTC with no joy.

I have yet to start any meds for the PCOS as the gyne doctor also wants to check my hormones are she suspects I could be low on oestrogen/have other hormone issues.

Naturally I am feeling disheartened and pessimistic about conceiving although my doctors thoughts on my hormones are just speculation at this time. The good news was when she did an internal scan a couple of months ago she could see a healthy egg, so that’s a positive.

My cycles usually last between 28 – 29 days and are regular with very little variation either side of the 28 – 29 days.

On day 29 (Saturday) I started to get the typical period cramps that I normally experience an hour or two before AF arrives and they usually last for the 1st few hours only. However AF didn’t show, very strange as I never usually get cramps/pain days before my period only when its imminent but didn’t think too much of it as I expected it to come on Sunday then instead, but no show

Now I am on day 32 and no sign of AF but the cramps are still there intermittently and I feel quite bloated and getting twinges like pulling in my lower abdomen.

If I was pregnant this month it would literally be a miracle as due to my age, PCOS and the logistical issues this month DH and I meant we only DTD once this cycle and it was late, maybe day 17 or so. But there is still a chance I could be pregnant I guess?

Of course I will do a pregnancy test if AF no show today/tomorrow and am 99% sure it will be a negative but in the meantime I was wondering if anybody experienced anything similar on a month they were sure they didn’t conceive and it turned out to be pregnancy or just late AF for some reason?

I hope AF still hasn't shown it's ugly head!

I went through the same last cycle. I had all the pregnancy symptoms (I've had 2 m/c so I know my usual symptoms) and AF was 1 week late. Suddenly whilst at work I felt like a burst inside of me and I immediately got AF, and very heavy flow too. DH and I are very sure I got pregnant but embryo didn't manage to fertilise. I did 2 tests and got 2 negatives but I am positive I got pregnant, although it would have been a miracle as DH had a vasectomy reversal 2 months ago.

I have my gynae check up tomorrow as I took Clomid last week and also started my DHEA so I will ask him what last cycle was all about.
