I normally have 1 positive day.
This is my 3rd consecutive day of positives, I've tested twice daily for the last 2 as I'm trying to be more accurate on when I have ovulated (or at least when the hormone starts to drop) due to the fact I need my day 21 hormone test done.
I need to be pretty accurate and know when I'm 6-8 dpo as day 21 wouldn't work for me because of shorter than average periods/earlier ov.
So my questions are :

Why could my hormone levels be remaining high?
and
Should I count from my first positive result or not?

Gah! just when you think your body can't confuse you anymore, you find out it bloody well can Confused

From what I've managed to find on the net, it could be -

My ovary could simply be having a little bit of an issue releasing the egg this month thus making my LH stay high while it's trying to do so. Not much of a problem unless it happens regularly.

It's also been a sign of pregnancy for some people - I know this is not the case for me.

Double ovulation - apparently happens more often than we think. All of those non- identical twins have to come from somewhere, right?

A symptom of Pcos - great! I'm awaiting an ultra sound to check my ovaries to confirm or rule this out. It's the last thing I'm being tested for after having quite a few things pointing to it. :( That said I'm trying not to panic, I've been OPK'ing for what seems like forever so surely I'd have seen this before in another/more cycles.

My age (I've recently crossed that 'magical mysticalHmm ' cut off point for all things bad and turned 36) - this part is conflicting as I've read that the LH surge gets less with age and also that longer surges can happen too. So I'm ignoring this one.

Luckily the GP gave me 2 forms to get my 21 day bloods done due to the confusion on when I ov in my cycle so I'm going to go 7 days after my first positive test then again 7 days after my last - that should cover it, I hope.
I have taken advantage of this months long surge with lots of extra dtd (Fx, Fx, Fx) , my cervical position was still in ovulation mode yesterday so lets see what today brings :)

Hi Hopeful, it is frustrating and I'm sure it is for you too.

I'm inclined to believe that I don't have pcos as I've never had probs before, have been pregnant 3x, have had many scans and not once has anyone mentioned cysts or pcos to me, although I know that the cysts don't have to be present.
I haven't had any issues with hormone levels until around 12-18 mths ago. Surely I would have shown something, as far as I know (and could be wrong) it's not something you just get from nowhere IF I have it then I've had it all along.

I think it's pointing to that because of some symptoms - I have a higher than normal testosterone level which is making me sprout hair in places that I didn't previously.
My cycles can be a little irregular, between 22 and 29 days but not too bad and they've recently gotten better again.
While I'm not overweight (just :)) I do find it very difficult to lose it and if I let it, very easy to put on. Typically I yo-yo with 5/6 lbs and it can be daily.
Acne on my shoulders and back but again not too bad.
Some hair loss and thinning which I'd put down to over dyeing.
I've had other bloods done quite recently, oh the joy of living between 2 countries one won't accept the others blood tests so require duplicates :) and my thyroid is fine, other hormones fine too - It's so confusing.

How far are you in your tests, have you had the scan/bloods yet?

Please don't worry about it! Some people have long LH surges. Some people can have a long LH surge and then shorter ones other months! I had 3 to 4 days of +ve opks and was worried something was wrong, but went on to get a bfp so it was nothing sinister. Don't fret :)

Thanks hanflan :)
I think that after ttc for so long I'm looking for reasons anywhere and everywhere that will provide an answer.
I've just picked up some results from my new cd3 bloods so I'm off to decipher them.

Some good news - my testosterone level has reduced by more than half of what it was in April. The only change I made was to stop taking vitamin B6 as I read it can raise testosterone levels.

FSH - good
LH - good.

Just need to wait for my 21 day bloods and put them all together.

Just ov tested - Day 5 of positive Confused

*UPDATING in case anyone else finds themselves in the same boat.

So I've had my progesterone results back and it looks likely that the reason for my unusual long positive OPK's was because because I ov'd twice this month.
I had two progesterone tests done.
The first 7 days after I got the 1st positive OPK and the 2nd bloods taken 7 days after the final OPK (so 5 days apart).
Both results were in the 70's :)

Af due tomorrow - fx fx fx she doesn't come.
