Day 14 and no peak on CBFM just High?

Hello,

Just wanted to check if anyone had come across this using the CBFM...

Second month of trying for DC. No.2. I used the CBFM last month and had lots of highs but two peaks on day 13 and day 14.

This month I only started getting highs on day 11, however, I've not had a peak yet. I thought is get one yesterday but didn't and definitely thought I get one today but still high.

Could the CBFM have missed the peak? Yesterday lunch time I got some twinges low down on the left and thought that could have been ovulation?

My cycle is normally 28-29 days, and pretty regular plus or minus a day.

Have people ovulated even when CBFM never peaked?

Thanks

Hello Teddy!

I have had the exact same thing this month using the CBFM. When I used it to conceive my first DC I got a peak, just started using it for TTC No.2 and only had highs. I did read that if you wee too hard on the sticks, get them too wet then it may not read properly and you won't get your peak. I have had high readings for nearly ten days now. It's made me wonder if I have ovulated this month or not. I think if you're only on day 11 you could still get a peak?? I'm trying not to worry too much, only time will tell if I did ovulate. Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait for a couple of weeks to find out! Hope you get your peak reading.

Thanks Dickie,

I'm also trying for second DC at the moment and used it with DC one and it worked great.

Just tested this morning and got another high. Is it tyre the monitor will continue to give you highs until a peak?

Xx

I've just started with clearblue monitor this month, after over a year ttc. It's been odd. I've had high readings since day 11, and I'm still getting high readings at day 20!!!! I have no idea what this is about! But I'm running out of sticks very quickly lol
Apparently the first month can be inaccurate, and you might not get a peak reading while the monitor gets to know your cycle/ hormone levels.
I'd be interested to know if others have experienced this and then gone on to have peak readings on future cycles?

Hi Teddy

I'm on day 19 and still getting highs! I'm not expecting to get a peak now this month, haven't heard about it continuing to give highs until peak appears.

Hi Seb! I'm also going through a lot of sticks which is annoying! I have read that the first month can be a bit different because it's trying to get to know your cycle. I can't help thinking I may have messed up my peak reading by getting the sticks too wet. I think when I use it again I will use a cup to collect my sample instead.

I didn't have this problem when I used the monitor a couple of years ago, it showed a peak on first month and I managed to get pregnant.

It's common to only get highs the first month. It learns about your hormone levels though so the next month you should get a peak. In the meantime, you can try to read the sticks yourself by looking at how strong the lh line is. You should be able to see a peak yourself. Also the oestrogen line should be light.

It will continue to give you highs until you've used 20 sticks. If then will wait until you input the first day of your period.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I do think in the first cycle that you can have lots of highs and no peaks. I think I have resigned myself that I'm going to use 20 sticks this month! When I used it first time around back in 2010, I got pregnant after the first cycle and had a MC, so had to reset the monitor and then got pregnant again first cycle after MC - so I've not really had much experience of the second cycle. But the three fist cycles I've had I've had lots of highs but peaks too.

I have been poas rather than using a cup. I think perhaps I've Poas for too long? I often do it for 3 seconds and another couple to just make sure! I think I might try and use a cup for the reminder of the month and next month.

I have heard people getting a BFP even when the CBFM has had no peaks - so there is hope. I'm inclined to think I did ovulate probably on Friday due to twinges I was having but then again that could have been anything.

I'm on day 15 of the cycle so might DTD a couple more times this month and then keep my fingers crossed! I was trying to chart temp too, every morning at 6:00am but my DD has had a disturbed night over the last few days and I read that you need to have been asleep at least three hours before reading temp?

I'm also tempted to go and get some cheap OPK from the supermarket for the sake of comparison.

Lastly, as anybody been using Pregnacare conception? This my first month of using them and I've heard they can lengthen the Follicular phase? I think I need to some researching online!

Tatty xx

Excellent news that you got your peak tatty. Hope your peak arrives soon Bessie! I read in the leaflet that sometimes it won't show a peak, for me this month I just had to guess and plough on!! Now on day day 22 of using monitor, I have another long week to wait to see if AF turns up!

I had 12 days of highs on my first cycle with the CBFM before getting a peak - it just takes time to get to know you.

Also, and I am sure this is not recommended ;) , I kept hold of a non- high/ peak stick and used it for the days I knew would be low - basically after the peak and right at the beginning of a cycle - saved a fortune I reckon!

tattyteddy · 16/04/2014 21:08

I've used a stick that was used after I had got a peak. It's has savedme sticks too. I'm pretty sure after you're first peak the monitor is programmed to give you one more peak and then a high and then lows until af is due.

I found the cbfm the biggest waste of money going - sorry ladies. It's programmed to keep giving you highs after the first one. And then it's programmed to give you 2 days of peaks. So it could be misleading you...

It also only let's you test once a day, which means there is a chance you could miss your peak if it's shorter than 24 hours, which is perfectly possible.

I supplemented cbfm with internet cheapies in the evening and found the results much clearer. If you look at a ClearBlue stick you'll see it's just two lines like all of the other sticks, and they're way easier to screw up (weeing too hard Smile) than the cheap ones. So if you're not getting a peak, I'd suggest using cheap ones in the evenings just to double check you're not missing it with the cbfm.

Good luck to everyone ttc!! Thanks

TeenageMutantNinjaTurtle - thank you for your advice, i tried the cheapies before and never ever got a positive (as in the line never seems to be as dark as the test line) so i always thought i didnt ovulate. we dtd on the high days so we cover all bases anyway. Altho i do see your point with the only testing once a day and the peak may have come earlier (hence the dtd on high days) so i do understand where ya coming from, ive thought same to be honest. im just a bit slack and prefer someone to tell me (as in the faces rather than trying to read lines)

Thanks hun. x

Thanks for the advice Teenage, I may give the cheapies a try if I don't get a peak after two or three months. I'm already feeling like I wasted my money on the first month. POAS for twenty days is getting old!!

Finally got a peak reading this morning on day 25!! I'm 3 days away from my next period and I have pretty regular cycles so I don't believe my body is ovulating this late.
