Oooooh good thread newly mrs, I was about to come on and ask a similar think since af has decided to raise her ugly head early this month so I'm out in march! I'm thinking of giving in to some smiley faced opks, what are your thoughts? Last month I only noticed one blob of ewcm so was thinking of getting some of that special cough syrup that's meant to increase your amounts - not sure of the name though!

Hi there...I'm just coming to end of my first cycle.....AF due next weekend. I've never TTC before...my DS was an accident lol. DH and I have decided rather late in life (I'm 41 and he's 43!) to TTC as we don't have children together. We've decided to take a relaxed approach and just DTD as much as possible!! I read on NHS website that you should DTD every couple of days and then there will always be some little swimmers in there for when you do ovulate. My cycle is still all over the place as I came off the pill in December.....we will see what happens. DH is convinced that I will get a BFP next weekend but I have tried to tell him it is unlikely to be that lucky after the first month of trying at our age lol. I have been guilty of this "symptom spotting" though!

Oooh what is this cough medicine?

Anything is worth a try! I might try opk's again next cycle!

Good thread! :) okay here goes with my little bits of advice.... reduce (or cut out altogether if you can) alcohol and caffeine, so so hard to do but it's a fertility consultant's recommendation, take a prenatal supplement, I'm normally anti vitamin pills but I'm taking 'Trying for a baby', I'm also using Clearblue's advanced digital opk and finding it totally reliable, I know some people prefer not to use opk but I've been with DP for 5 years so dtd everyday is a bit unrealistic for us ;) however I was told every other day is good enough.

Diet tell me more about the cough syrup, I haven't tried that yet.

Mel come and join us on the Old birds coop thread, there's a few of us 'older' ladies on there in the tww and pretending were not symptom spotting :)

Hi all! Great thread :)

TTC cycle #12 for DC2. Did internet cheapy test on Fri and was BFN. Waiting for AF now so can get on with #13.

As it's been a year now I'm going to approach subject of visiting the docs with DH to get the ball rolling with tests etc.

I'm 29 and DH is 48. DD1 is now 8 so it's been a while since I was last pg.

Fingers crossed for us all getting that BFP in April! Grin

Just thought of something else! :) fertility consultant said if struggling to conceive you should be on a high protein diet, so eggs for breakfast, lots of chicken/fish and vegetables for lunch/dinner. Apparently sugar sends your blood sugar all over the place and the insulin you release is counterproductive to conceiving. I don't know about anyone else but blimey I never realised ttc required so much planning.

I'm with you Luna let's hope all this advice we're sharing gets us all a BFP next month! :)

Inshock, I'm finding your tips really insightful- thank you. I'm on my 25th cycle of ttc#2.
I do eat too much sugar and not enough protein. Need to change that.

Threepiecesuite I agree but all the foods that contain the sugar are the foods I love!

pressed! I got a bit desperate after 5 months and super googled, everyone who reviewed it said they got pregnant 1st month of using it and guess what so did I!! I'm now 7weeks 4 days. It's a special lubricant that helps make you a good environment for conceiving as it's perfect for sperm to swim in :) obviously It only helps if you ovulate and have a uterus that is easy to implant in - it won't solve problems like pcos, endo, blocked tubes or scaring.

cough mixture with guanifenisin (query spelling) in Is supposed to help your mucus to be the right consistency for swimming sperm as well. It usually says on the front of the bottle as it's the main ingredient.
It was also the first month I ovulation tests so I think that really helped :)

also as an extra precaution we stopped having sex at about 4dpo just in case :)

good luck!

I've got pregnant last month (chemical) and then straight away this month using cheap opks off eBay. Had sex every now and then till I got a positive opk and then Dtd on the night of the positive. When I was ttc my 2nd dc it took 4 months when I went for the every other night routine.
I've also heard evening primrose oil from cd1 till ov can help with ewcm and something about pineapple for implantation. Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks Threepiece , Just thought of something else which might also interest you NewlyMrsB, consultant also said it's important to get at least 5 portions of fruit and veg a day but fruit should only be eaten with a meal, so for instance as dessert because of the natural sugars which also makes your body realise more insulin. I know this diet sounds quite restrictive but I work with a lady who suffers with recurrent mc's and she was given the same advice from a fertility specialist. I love all things sweet so for me to cut back is so hard but it's got to be a worth a try.

Thanks ladies !

I do love all my carbs which are sugar loaded but try to be healthy and have plenty of fruit and veg but maybe I should make an extra effort next cycle and see what happens.

I might try the preseed too!

I know it will only be cycle 4 but both my sisters got pregnant whilst on the pill so I'm thinking what's wrong with me?!!!

I've bought ConceivePlus, anyone tried that? I tried to buy Preseed from a company called FertilityStore online, unfortunately I've been done, they took payment from my card, Preseed never arrived and when I've emailed and called them both email address and number are no longer in use. Ladies DON'T use FertilityStore.co.uk!

That's awful that people would take advantage of people trying to have a baby!
I've heard people say conceive plus is the same kind of thing. Going into boots today to see what things I can find haha

I've spouted this before on here so apologies to anyone who's read it on another thread.

Got pregnant last year on cycle 7 ttc#1 after trying pretty much everything mentioned here and giving it all up in favour of:

-sex every single day of cycle. Sometimes twice. It was pretty awful and neither of us wanted to do it again for about 8 weeks afterwards!!
-weekly fertility acupuncture
-assessment at Chinese medicine centre and an evil tasting regime of Chinese herbs three times a day, brewed into a tea.

Hahaha laughed a lot about the 'evil tasting regime'!! What's acupuncture like? Is it painful? It might be my next port of call to try and regulate my cycles if reflexology doesn't work!

Thanks for the warning on fertility store, robbing b*tards!

You can buy preseed from amazon.
