Have I just mc'd?

I got my BFP yesterday-did two tests in the middle of the day and one with fmu this morning (6am).
At 9.30 this morning I had blood in my knickers and what looked like a tiny clot, no blood since. I did another test at 10am and a very very faint line appeared (both DH and I could only just make it out). Could I have mc'd?
The wee I used at 10am was very dilute (pale in colour)-could this have caused the fainter line?
Should I go to my gp?

Hi. This must be very stressful for you, so sorry you are going through this. It's possible it may be an early mc. If you call the docs they can take bloods. How many days past your missed period are you?

Morning MB34 - if your urine was very dilute then you would get a fainter line. In the case of a miscarriage, a pregnant test would still be positive as it takes a while for the levels of the pregnancy hormone, human chorionic gonadotropin, that makes the test positive, to go down to such a level that they won't register on a pregnancy test. I think you would have seen much more blood if you'd had a miscarriage but maybe make a GP appointment for reassurance. Best of luck Smile

Thanks for the quick reply - my cycle is 24 days and yesterday was day 23! Although it has been getting shorter - it was 27 days in September, getting shorter up until Dec/Jan when it was 24 days. Might give my doctor a call

Ok, so you found out you were pregnant before AF was due.
I'm sure you know how it all works.
Give the docs a call for them to take bloods. Has there been any more blood since?

Hi. it could unfortunately be a chemical pregnancy- relatively common since they invented tests that can give a bfp before period due. However i had a small amount of brown clots around the time of bfp, a bit earlier than my period would have arrived and it worked out. keep hoping unless a period arrives. I found testing every 2-3 days rather than every day ensured the line got darker! One fainter line shouldn't draw conclusions. Best of luck x ps i doubt doctor will do anything at this stage though if you're still unsure in a few days they can do a blood test which should be conclusive.

Also the diluted wee would always be fainter.

At this very early stage it's normal for more diluted wee to result in a fainter test, so I wouldn't worry about that. Try again in a couple of days first thing in the morning.

If it was just one episode of light bleeding this morning and nothing since you should assume you are still pregnant for the moment. A little spotting or light bleeding early in pregnancy is pretty normal. But obviously if it starts again, gets heavier (like a normal period or more), or if it lasts several days, then it is quite likely that you are having a very early miscarriage (or 'chemical pregnancy').

Your GP won't tell you anything else really, and the tests they have are just the same ones as we have at home so they can't really add or do anything. Of course if you are in a lot of pain or bleeding very heavily you should see a doctor. And similarly if this happens several times, it is worth getting some blood tests.

FWIW I had v. early losses two months in a row (losses at 5 and 4.5 weeks) and the third month I conceived my son. It is very common and does at least demonstrate that you can conceive, which is a good sign.

Thanks for all your replies. I thought the same as you allchat but as my cycles were getting shorter I thought maybe I was due af on day 23 this month.

I've made an appointment with my gp for tomorrow but I've had a bit more brown spotting this afternoon so I'm not getting my hopes up. Next time I think I'll wait a few more days before testing. Sad

I really hope everything is ok and goes well at the GP's tomorrow. If it is any help/consolation I had brown bleeding then spotting at 5weeks+5 (had only just found out). EPU scanned me as the previous cycle I had miscarried at 7 weeks. They saw a small sac and told me to come back in two weeks to see if it had grown. At 6 weeks+5 I had more bleeding and thought that was it. Went along at 7 weeks+5 and saw heartbeat.

Really hope it goes well for you.

Fingers crossed for you MB34. It must be awful limbo feeling, but there are lots of positive stories out there, so hope you are one of them.
Take care and come back and let us know how you get on x

Thanks for your support everyone! I went to the doctors yesterday, she did an internal exam and said my cervix is closed (apparently it's open when miscarrying) and a little red and since I'm in no pain, she seemed to think everything was fine.

I have had slight brown spotting again today but trying not to worry.

I did another test yesterday morning - still positive but going to try to hold off until Friday to do another one. If it's still looking good, I'll call the maternity unit then and ask their advice.

Again thanks for your support

Ah. That's really good about the doctors.

Hope the spotting stops so you can at least relax a little, although it is very common in early pregnancy.

Good luck and hope you have happy and healthy pregnancy.
