Conception

Today I'm 18 days late (51 day cycle) but no sign of a BFP. Anyone else?

So my last AF was 28th August for 3 days (they're always 3 days long). I was due 30th September but no sign of AF.

My cycles are on average 33 days long but vary between 29 and 35 days. I've been off the pill for a year. Prior to that I had been on the pill pretty solidly since I was 16. I'm now 30 years old my partner is 36 and this will be our first child.

I've had a couple of doctors appointments as I was getting concerned that a) we hadn't yet conceived and b) I had put on weight since coming off the pill and my understanding is that the opposite is normally true.

Anyway, she took blood on a very early cycle day and tested for hormone levels, rubella immunity and thyroid issues.

I went for my second appointment and was told that my thyroid is fine and I am immune to rubella. my hormone levels were 8.5 FSH and 7.5 LH. My doctor said that normally the LH level at the beginning of your cycle is slightly lower than FSH so that could be a very slight sign of PCOS but she wasn't particularly worried by the levels.

Nevertheless she referred me for an ultrasound at my local hospital and said she would look at putting me on metformin. She suggested I get my blood tested very early in my next cycle, then at 21 days, then at 28 days. I think the idea being that she wanted to see if I was ovulating.

The problem with that is that my AF hasn't showed up. So everything is on hold... Angry

So anyway, I'm now at cycle day 51 and am 18 days over my average 33 day cycle.

I'm really hoping I am pregnant, as is my other half, but don't want to get too excited.

I've done two Internet cheapies about a week ago - both negative.

Symptoms - cramping (daily), aching back, yesterday I had such a bad headache in the afternoon and then felt very very sick, weird full/bloated feeling in my tummy, skin is horrible.

If you're going through the same thing let's buddy up and share/support each other.

Also, if you've been through this I'm keen to hear what you're outcome was.

Not been through this but have you requested a blood test for pg at your GP's?

I came on my period 15th August. I'm now on CD 64.

Is it bad that I am considering telling my GP we have been trying for a year so I can get investigated for PCOS?

Hang on your last test was over a week ago and it was a cheapie? Why on earth haven't you re tested with a decent brand? Some ppl take a while for their bfp to show up.

grobags - I haven't had a chance (with work etc) to get down to the shops. We live in a village without a huge amount of shopping choice.
Are the Internet cheapies not very reliable?

I think it depends on the person but in.your situation I would retest. Order some first response on amazon?

I think I will. My other half wants me to go and get blood tested at the docs but I certainly couldn't get down there until Tuesday because of work commitments...

Yes! A week's wait could mean a positive!

Yes I'd definitely retest. How exciting!

That didn't go well. In my haste I just literally pee'd on a stick rather than into a pot and then dipped the stick in.

I don't think I barely got any pee on it as it barely travelled up the stick. It's now finally travelled and just revealed one line.

So that either means I didn't do it right/my levels arent showing or I'm not pregnant... Sad

Gah! What is going on. Wish I just knew one way or the other...

I know it's the most useless advice in the world but try not to be too stressed about it. If you're stressed it can delay your period and prolong the agony Sad

Thanks Antoinette, that's exactly what my other half said.

I personally would just wait and go to the doctors for a blood test on Tuesday. Then you will know once and for all.

I know they're expensive but in this instance I'd break out a cb digi then you've got no worries over interpreting lines.

I agree with tea. Just get a digital test and get some certainty.

nappyaddict · 20/10/2013 21:08

The thing is clear blue digital tests aren't that sensitive. And if you are one of the few people who don't get a positive til 8-12 weeks it will say negative, but your period won't turn up and you'll still be none the wiser. At least with a blood test you know for definite!

I am on CD 48, no BFP. Cycles usually 35 days. I've tried IC tests and Boots one but all negative. I've assumed I'm not pregnant and the delay is either PCOS or stress (have a few worries about things at the moment).
I can kind of cope with not being pregnant but it's the not being able to track where I am in my cycle so we can carry on trying that is bothering me!

I've got a Dr appt on thursday, it'll CD 51 by then, just over two weeks since AF was due.

Hi Nerdy. Sounds like we're in the same boat. Still no sign of AF for me and I get a floaty/sicky feeling in my tummy daily Envy
I'm going to try and get an appointment with my doctor one day this week to discuss what's going on. I'm now on CD54 and 21 days late. the longest cycle I've ever had was 42 days last December about a month and half after I came off the pill. Every other month they've been between 29 and 34 days - my average cycle according to my app being 33 days. How confusing.

I haven't done any tests other than IC yet as the IC I have are 10mui which I believe is the same strength as First Response/Clear Blue etc and it seems a waste of money...?

Hey. No news I'm afraid other than I'm now 28 days late so a 61 day cycle with no sign of AF and no BFP yet.

I've had various other symptoms. Aching back, sicky almost really hungry feeling, aching left arm, been a bit constipated, moods all over the place, tearful etc etc

Been trying to get an appointment with my GP which isn't easy. Waiting for a telephone call from her. Got an ultrasound next Wed...

Worried now that I either have missed a cycle or have an ectopic pregnancy.

Just wish I knew what was going on Sad

Hi bluefreckles
Sorry you're still in this boat. I am too. I believe that if it is an ectopic you would probably have a BFP so perhaps it is not that. I am due to have blood tests just after my period starts to see if it's PCOS. but if it hasn't come by the time the next one might have been due they might just do them anyway.
Hopefully you will find out what's going on at the ultrasound.
