Pregnant with implant?

Hi, just after a bit of advice really. I am on the implant and it runs out this month.

I have recently been on antibiotics (doxycycline) I know this antibiotic does not effect the implant however as it is due to he renewed this month could it have possibly reduced the effectiveness of the implant?

I have not come on for 6 weeks now and I have very tender breasts. I had cystitis last night and when I was pregnant with my DS I had 2 uti's when I was in early pregnancy.

I have done a test but it has come back negative.

I will do one again but I was just wondering if anyone else has been in the same situation and any suggestions?

Thanks.

Antibiotics will not affect the implant and it's very rare to get pregnant with them (only really if the implant was faulty or placed wrong). You cannot expect a regular cycle so 6 weeks from your last period isn't unusual. Home pregnancy tests are very accurate so I don't think you are pregnant. Lots of women get side effects like you have and feel like they could be pregnant but it's just the implant!

I was just asking as my implant is up next week and wasn't sure if it is reduced at all in the last month.
Thanks for the advice.

I think - and I'm no expert so could well be wrong - that when it's 'up', there are actually still several months of effectiveness left so you have time to get a new one without risking unwanted pg.
