Hi,
Sorry if this is in the wrong section.
I had my more a coil removed 13th August and my period is due today but I haven't had any of my usual 'symptoms'
does anyone know if the menstrual cycle changes when coil is removed?

I didn't have a period after removing the mirena as I got pregnant immediately...

POAS?

Did you have any bleeding while you had the coil in? I haven't had a period in years as I have a mirena.

I would expect a bit of delay as the hormones leave your system, but I'm not an expert!

Prior to having my Mirena my cycles were always 30/31 days. I still had periods when my Mirena was in place but I never really monitored the lengths of my cycles.

When I had my Mirena removed I had a small bleed a few days later, which I was told to expect and then I was advised to just wait for my normal periods to resume.

I used my previous 30/31 length cycles as a starting point to try and guess when I might be fertile and ovulating and we got pregnant on our first month of trying.

Some professionals say that the Mirena does affect hormones and can cause delays in periods returning and fertility occurring, yet other professionals say it doesn't.

I guess it is just a waiting game Hmm

I meant to say that I didn't have to "wait until my normal periods resumed" as we fell pregnant straight away. I had my Mirena removed on the 30th May and then conceived on the 7th July.

I didnt have any periods for a long time with the mirena in, but I had it removed on 9th April, and had a 4 day bleed from the following day. My cycles were around 27-28 days, and the periods were all just a day and a half or 2 days long. I fell pg around 15th/16th July and am currently 8 weeks Smile

Good luck to you

Thank you for all your replies.
I POAS and it was negative.
5 days after it was expected my period arrived...
Looks like we'll have to keep ttc!

Please be aware that it's best to wait 3 cycles to try to conceive after mirena removal. This gives your womb lining a chance to build up and recover. Miscarriage is more likely before this point.

Is that right?? I'm currently 10 weeks and bleeding. I'm booked in to have a scan on Wednesday and I'm just crossing my fingers that everything will be ok x x

Sorry if I've worried you writer. I really do hope everything is ok. I done some online investigation before having my mirena removed a year ago and the general consensus was that waiting 3 cycles was best to give the fetus a better chance of implanting.

Well I was worried before, so a little bit more worry won't do any harm Hmm

My first period after my Mirena removal though was horrendous, it was like a blood bath!!! It certainly didn't seem like there was a problem with the thickness of my lining and I also had periods every month whilst I had my Mirena in.

I'm trying to think of positive in case you hadn't guessed.... Hmm

Hi nana it can take quite a while, mine have jut settled into being 34 day cycles after months of being anything from 26-40 days. I was previously 28 days on the dot.

I think getting to know when you ovulate is more important than your cycle length/irregularities. Smile

I had my mirena removed a year ago, my periods were all over the place for 7 months but for the last 5 have settled into 26 day cycles - I was always 30-31 before (I'd had it in for 4.5 years). I think any hormonal contraceptive will take a while to completely get out of your system hormone wise, but in my experience doesn't affect your fertility in itself. My cycle probably changed just because I'm 5 years older and it would maybe have shortened anyway, it was just more noticeable as I am comparing being 25 to 30! Hope that helps!

I had mine removed in December, took 35 days to have AF 3 months of very light one day period with two days last month which were normal ish. It takes a few months for regularity I think... These doctors should tell us at insertion.

so i had the mirena in for 5 years, when it ran out had it replaced but decided to have it removed early in january 2020. Before the mirena my cycles were pretty regular. 28 days, 5 day period, 28 days then 5 day period etc. Since removal they are all over the place and its driving me insane. My doctor said my periods would return to how they used to be. My first cycle was 26, then 29, then 26, then 29, then 23, im currently on day 36 awaiting my next one. My last period lasted for 2 weeks, before that 7 days, sometimes 3 days. Obviously this cycle is longer than my normal ones, ive took two pregnancy tests and both came back negative. How long did it take for everyone elses periods to have some sort of regular routine? Ita driving me insane because we are ttc so the later this period is the more sad its making me when the tests come back negative. Ive read a few threads where people have said its basically left them infertile so now im worried im in the sane position. Im 27 and already have 2 children so i know i was able to concieve before. Just looking for other peoples experiences after removal please as its really starting to get me down!

Hi I had my coil removed may 2020 as we are TTC I'm 41 , and ever since removal I've had very light periods and no luck concieving, doc says not to worry as it can take a while for your body to regulate but can't help worrying, that I've left it too late.
