I was 36. Hit it first go! My first pregnancy took a lot longer - we were trying for 18 months.

wow, i think its just really unpredictable and must vary so much from person to person. I think when you want something so much the stress of it all doesn't help either. i've been trying for ages but this is the first month that i've tried opks( that i can understand!)and i think before i was judging it and dtd a lot earlier than i should have. i've ovulated a lot later than i thought i would i'm quite surprised. shows that not everyone is text book!! thanks.. i feel better now as you hear so much about fertility dropping at 35 its scary as hell!!! I don't know what opks is, but what worked for us is the taking your temperature thing, to find out exactly when you ovulate.

Good luck!!

yeah that's what i'm thinking of doing for next month, i think thats the best way to determination if ovulation does actually occur... think 'll give that a bash! all this charting, readings, tests etc. it makes it all seem so clinical and certainly makes dtd much less interesting. My poor other half must feel very used. i'll have to make it up to him afterwards til next month so he knows just how appreciated he is...lol!!.thanks for your advice... i cant wait til i'm as lucky as you and have beautiful children..what do you have..?? boys or girls??? do you want any more???

best wishes to you and your Family xxx

using an ovulation kit and acupuncture I could get PG very easily at this age, and older.

With one slip-up I got a positive test on my 37th birthday.

Took me about six months two years later.

First baby at 34 one month of trying and second baby a one hit wonder accident at 36 and half! My husband has had the snip but its just failed. bit gutted given my track record and can't use anything hormonal...

It's very varied. I am 38 and have been TTC for three and a half years with no success, but with apparently nothing wrong with either of us. However I have a feeling that even at 28, I would have struggled, so age isn't everything.

DC1, started trying on my 37th birthday. He was born 10 months later.
DC2, started trying shortly after my 40th. She was born 9 months later.

I'd never been pg before and we had never tried before. DH has now had the snip.

Had my coil removed at 35.5, had never tried to get pregnant before so had no idea whether or not it would happen. It took about 9 months to conceive and I had my son a month before my 37th birthday. Am now 39 and 5 months pregnant with my second. Again it took about 9 months. I didn't use OPK's or chart my temperature but did record my (less regular after first pregnancy) cycle dates and keep an eye on signs of ovulation. In fact I'd just bought my first pack of ov sticks to start trying a bit harder when I got my positive this time. Never got to use them.

Successful first month of trying at 37.
Never considered it would be a problem
Seems we were very lucky, as nothing since, still ovulating though

I'm 37. Been trying since I was 34. I have one IVF miscarriage to show for our efforts. Nothing has been shown to be wrong with either of us.

FWIW I had my first child at 37 and my last at 42. (As you can see I have three). DC3 was actually an accident as I was happy to settle for two children - best mistake I ever made though! I certainly wouldn't describe 37 as an older mum!
