How accurate is First response (done early)?

I'm desperate to test! But really trying to hold off until Saturday when I'm due on.

I would hate for it to be negative now but still holdin out hope that it was just too early to tell and then having to wait a few more days.

What would you do?! I'm on the verge of running out the the chemist now!

Do you know when you ovulated? The further after ovulation you test, the more likely it is to be accurate. Personally I prefer to test early and get BFN but still have that excitement/nervousness about if it was just too early, I know other people who only test after AF is due because they can't stand seeing just one line.

Thanks for reply. I ovulated last Saturday according to ov pains. And I'm pretty regular. So I'm 10dpo and due this Saturday.

I'd be tempted to buy one today and test with FMU tomorrow as that's when the hormones will be at their highest - just be aware that if its negative it could still be wrong! Superdrug pink line tests are a heck of a lot cheaper than FRER and just as accurate so maybe buy a twin pack of them, use one tomorrow and save the other one to use at the weekend?

Thanks, will do that. No super drug here (not UK) but will get a double pack of FR.

Thanks!

Bizzarly I'm having the same internal debate! Ovulated 11 days ago so there is a chance an early test would pick it up. On the other hand, if it's negative I'm going to be 2 parts gutted to one part disbelieving!

The superdrug tests can be used 4 days before AF is due and I read they're better than the first response ones (and cheaper). But obviously the longer you wait the better, because early on you might get a false negative. At least if you wait longer you can be more certain of the result. Although it's really difficult to wait!

The lower the miu/L a test can detect, the better. The First response ones detect 12.5 miu/L, whilst the Superdrug ones are 10 miu/L.

I saw a faint line with a first response 10 days after ovulation.

Do it with first morning urine to increase the chances of seeing a positive.

Good luck!

I've brought some first response tests ready to test Friday...I'm due on Monday. They say you can do it that early so just gonna go for it. I really hope I get a bfp this time...kind of convinced myself its my month going to be really gutted when as always it says bfn!! Good luck to you! What day are you going to test??

Sorry to be so negative but personally I wouldn't waste your money. My AF is due on Sunday (ish) and I will think about doing a Tesco test on Saturday. I won't be testing any earlier and First response etc are so expensive.
I drove myself crazy testing early on my last pg, I would get a bfn and convince myself it was too early or else spend a half an hour holding the test up to light etc Blush
When I did eventually get a bfp it was only very very very light even at 12dpo.

Best of luck to you, that's just my opinion...

I'm planning to test first thing tomorrow morning. Driving myself crazy symptom spotting. I feel I have loads of symptoms but the reality is the only time I really pay attention to my body is a few days before my period! I probably always have a stuffy nose and feel a bit sick in the mornings!

I know it's a waste of money. I did same thing first time with lo#1 and doing it this time as well...waste of money but literally can't stop myself!!

I know, it's addictive!! I used to buy internet strips in bulk and use something like 5 of them a day Blush

Yeah I had the Internet cheapies but became obsessed!! So stopped using them! Find its easier to limit yourself with the more expensive ones!!

I don't like the internet ones, they're supposed to be good, but I got a partial line with one while it should have been negative Angry

Bambi27 · 18/06/2013 10:21

Sorry I'm confused (doesn't take much!!) you were due on the Friday and you tested the Sunday before? Six days early? And it worked?? This is tempting me to do tomorrow!! ;)

2lilgirls · 18/06/2013 10:24

blueamber - I am not using them this time. I often got lines too (colourless) after a few mins but it was torture trying to decide if there it was a coloured line or not.

Wow even First response doesn't claim to be 6 days early - it says 6 days before first day of missed period which is 5 days before your period is due. Fairydogmother, do you have a long leutal phase or something?

Report
Fairydogmother · 18/06/2013 10:38

yip it was that early and i'm afraid i have no idea what a luteal phase is!

period was due 1 march and bfp on 24 march Grin

i was too impatient to wait so i tested as it was killing me not knowing! i knew there was a chance i'd be wasting a test but i honestly didnt care!

Report
Bambi27 · 18/06/2013 10:38

I just caved after seeing you got one 6 days early...bfn obviously!!! 5 pound wasted and still none the wiser and I know it's way to early! I'm so fed up with ttc and the 2ww!!

Fairydogmother · 18/06/2013 10:42

dont give up hope - i might have just been an oddity but i have all the dates recorded in my diary so v v sure they are correct!

it helped immensely that my period came on 1 feb as its easy to date things from the 1st!

fingers xd you get a successful test later in the week Smile the wait is horrendous so i totally understand your impatience!

PS check the test in another 30 mins - ive heard of some people testing early and a v faint line appearing some time later when they were chucking the test in the bin!

Ahh nooo Bambi27, how long are you ttc? Don't give up, I really think it's too early, very unusual to get a bfp so early.

Lucky you Fairydogmother, you only had a one week wait lol.

Just did a very silly thing. Took a FR test 2 minutes ago and it came back positive. BUT I had a trigger shot 13 days ago and I'm not sure if this could give me a false positive! Damn you, early pregnancy tests!

Report
Bambi27 · 18/06/2013 10:50

I shouldn't have tested as its before even the test says it will work!! Won't test now until Friday and too depressing! Eugh so fed up with ttc! Been 8 months now :( only took 2 months with #1 xx
