Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Well, it's official! Went out to Superdrug this afternoon and made sure not to have a drink or a wee all afternoon and waited until DP was home before doing the test.

Couldn't believe it when the second line appeared and no confusing it this time. Will still test again tomorrow morning as have another test to use up.

Ironically, given the title of the thread, it was the first month we DIDN'T use any opks! grin

Well y'all....finally had the cyst aspiration procedure this morning! So it's gone...here's to hoping it never (EVER) returns...Next step for me is to finish the last week's worth of BCP, then after my AF arrives, that will be my cycle to hopefully TTC again...They're talking about me taking the Femara CD3-7 (hormone to help facilitate Ovulation) but I'm undecided if I want to go there again, or try the old fashion way with no meds, no OPK and just DTD with the hubs every other day....Anyway, for now I'm taking the light at the end of the tunnel where I can find it, which is cyst gone...Then I hope my body gets in the game with this baby making business!

Congrats again Charley !! Enjoy this amazing time in your life, and treat yourself with care and kindness.

I wonder how MissV is - she hasn't been on in a long time.

charleylarlie Wed 23-Oct-13 19:45:50

Thanks, kabgab, blamber and business. I think it'll be a while before the news sinks in properly!

That must be a weight off your mind, kabgab. Hopefully the procedure wasn't too bad. It must be nice to be able to look forward to ttc. I don't know much about Femara, but maybe you could try without for a couple of cycles - being that little bit more relaxed about it all will do you no end of good, and you know it is still there if it doesn't happen naturally? Like I say, I don't know much about the drug though - so if you think it will work well then go for it. Sorry, my advice wasn't v. good really, was it? Anyway, great news that you can now move on. smile

and achy pain in my abdomen & pelvic area,

kabgab Thu 24-Oct-13 01:06:10

Hi Blamber - I just realized I didn't reply to your previous message..thank you for the kind words and support and trust that I know exactly how you feel too. You are correct though, to stay positive and have faith in your Specialists. All good thoughts are being sent your way, for whatever that is worth. xx

Business, How are you? What CD is this for you now? Can you take a test and just see (like Charley did? Hey you never know...)

xx

charleylarlie Thu 24-Oct-13 12:19:50

I'd def be testing if I were you, Business, esp if AF didn't happen like you were expecting it to. Keep us posted - fingers crossed!

I ad wat seem was my AF charley on Saturday 19th October , but why am i feeling like this still. Ive gt a appointment tomorrrow with the clinic where i ad my IUI done, i asked if i can ave a ultra-sound done.

BNmum Fri 25-Oct-13 08:58:00

Hey lovely ladies, I've had a break from mumsnet so not seen your news, I've just had a quick catchup ver the last couple of pages and ....
HUGE congratulations charley, that's super news! How are you feeling?

Sorry to hear that the IUI was unsuccessful business, I hope your appointment at the clinic goes well today. Keep us posted on what they say/suggest you do next.

I'm pleased to hear that your procedure went well kab and you can look forward to ttc again.

I hope that the docs continue to investigate your case blamber and give you some answers.

How's everyone else doing?

charleylarlie Fri 25-Oct-13 19:38:27

Hi BNmum, thanks for the congrats. It's nice to see you back. Sometimes a break from MN can do the world of good. Hope things are good with you. How many weeks are you now?

I'm feeling okay, just getting the odd little implantation cramp on my left hand side. I'm not sure if I remember getting them last time, but I've read that they're quite common. Boobs are getting a bit sore now, but no sickness yet thankfully.

How did you get on today, Business?

businessadmin Sat 26-Oct-13 19:40:26

Hi peeps, i ad my consultation yesterday , ive chosen to go down IVF route. I was given Microgynon Pills to take, i go bk on 20th November for my first scan.

Iad a scan yesterday, but the dr couldnt see anything.

How far along are u charley .

blamber Sat 26-Oct-13 20:19:28

Hi business, I hope Ivf will go well. Are you going to choose to have it done for free?

Bnmum, good to hear from you! Hope your pregnancy is going well. I presume the ms has disappeared!

I'm doing alright. My first blood results were normal so that's good. Next test is for progesterone, but I'm very confused when to take it. It's supposed to be on cd21 but my cycles are so irregular, so the GP advised to go 7 days after I ovulate. But then I read it should be 7 days before your period, but with my short and ever changing lp I have no idea when that would be either! Even worse, I'm supposed to go visit family abroad, but I don't want to ovulate or be due the test while I'm abroad. My oh isn't coming with me, so would hate to miss this month out. It's all so complicated!

charleylarlie Mon 28-Oct-13 19:59:52

Good luck with the IVF, Business. Keep us posted with how you get on.

Good news that your bloods came back ok, Blamber. I'm not sure how the 21 day test works, but would they let you go in on both days to cover all bases?

I'm 4w2d, Business. No real symptoms of anything yet. Boobs a bit sore, but all the implantation stuff seems to have settled down now.

How is everybody else?

BNmum Mon 28-Oct-13 20:59:03

Good luck with the ivf business, what kind of timescales do they work with?

Great news that first bloods came back normal blamber. I'm afraid I've got no idea about the progesterone, maybe set up another thread on here as I'm sure others have been there and done that so should be able to help you. Are you away for long?

Exciting times charley, I hope the sickness stays away for you! Have you got a date for your booking appointment?

I had my 20 week scan last week which was nice and yes, thankfully the sickness has now gone!

businessadmin Tue 29-Oct-13 21:24:49

Hi blamber , ty smile x

I ave to pay for my Ivf x

Ty charley x

Ty BNmum Wat do u mean timescales ? x

BNmum Wed 30-Oct-13 07:45:50

I'm just being nosey busness as I don't know much about ivf. Basically I was wondering how long the ivf process takes. Do you have to start taking medication at the start of your next cycle? will they then harvest your eggs? etc etc

Wishing you all the best with it x

charleylarlie Mon 04-Nov-13 13:37:59

Hi BNmum, I'm still waiting to hear from the midwife. The surgery said that she'd contact me to arrange appt, but this was over a week ago so I might phone back to check. Am 5+2 now. Glad the scan went well. Did you find out the sex?

How is everybody else doing? Blamber, Business, kabgab?

kabgab Mon 04-Nov-13 16:41:08

Still so happy for your charley....I'm ok, nothing to report...just waiting for AF to arrive so I can start TTC again...I finished the birth control pills so I'm thinking she should arrive within a few days...I also decided I'm going to give this next cycle a go without any Fertility drugs...just a pure clean attempt....I will ask them if I can still go in for a couple scans however around CD3 and CD11 just to ensure my ovaries, lining and follies look good (especially after the cyst disaster). I'm on the fence re: OPK....they tend to just irritate me more than anything so I think I will just use my calendar and the good old insurance approach of every other day starting CD7, and then a couple weeks beyond... I really hope this is a good cycle because it's hard not to lose hope after 14 months of trying.

Ladies, how are the rest of you all? Thread seems to have died a bit.

blamber Tue 05-Nov-13 09:49:25

Hi everyone!

kab, if opks irritate you, then it would indeed be better to skip them. I hope this is your month smile

I'm still waiting for ovulation. No sign yet on cd19. I'm skipping the trip abroad, which is a shame, but it will save me a lot of stress travelling. I am also feeling a cold coming on. Ugh! I just want one cycle where I don't have any massive stress or illness. There is always something going on!

kabgab Tue 05-Nov-13 14:17:20

Hi Blamber - oh I'm so sorry you have to miss the trip abroad...but to your point it will save you stress...always chances in the future too right? Don't you hate (hate) when the cycle days fly by and you still are waiting for Ovulation? That happens to me too, as this year I've been irregular...while not abnormal, it's scary especially as we age...I cannot remember exactly with you, are your cycles irregular and do you ovulate each cycle? I wish the best cycle for you.. I started my AF last night, so I'm hoping things can finally get back on track for me now. I'm not going to use meds for a couple cycles. xx
