Hi ladies.

Hope you are all ok?

Can someone tell me what he deal is with Vit b6 and ttc?

My LP has only been about 8 days over the last 5 cycles and am now about to start cycle 6.

Really annoyed with my body now if I'm totally honest.

Thanks in advance lovelies amd sending baby dust xxx

Snap! I have just started taking B6 in the hope that it will help to lengthen my LP phase. From what I have read, it works for some and not for others. Sorry I don't know more than that!

If you don't take it currently though, it's definitely worth a go!

Mine was not super short (about 11 days) but I got it to 13-14 days. I took high dose B6 and had acupuncture. I'm not sure which one made the difference.

Thanks ladies. I'm now on cd1. If I buy some from asda today do I just take it every day of my cycle?
And do I need to take anything with it?
Xx

I take it with vit C as they say it helps absorption. I think my dose is about 200mg.

B6 helped me lengthen my LP. It also generally smartended up my wayward cycles, a much neater af, etc.

Can I ask a probably silly question? If B6 extends the luteal phase, does it therefore shorten your potential fertile window? Or does it in theory lengthen the whole cycle.

I have been taking B6 for about a year, initially for its PMT reducing benefits but am now keen as it seems to be good for TTC, especially as the Seven Seas one I take also includes Folic Acid.

But my cycles are quite short - c.23 days but can be less. I can't work out if this means I have a very short window to conceive pre ovulation (am not v good at working out when ov actually happens!), or if it means my LP is short, despite taking the B6!

Any ideas? Am on CD9 of cycle 3 - no idea if I have already missed the boat for ovulation this month or if I am in with a chance!

Hi. I had c. 8 day LP, of 24ish day cycle. Was ovulating day 17ish. B6 and agnus castus did nothing for me.
Clomid did though, when I finally got to see consultant after various tests.
On my first cycle of clomid, I ovulated much earlier on day 12. Never knew what it did to my LP - I got PG that month :-)
If b6 and agnus castus don't work and youre waiting for referral try soy ioflavones, you can get in bigger Tesco branches for very cheap, I never used it but lots on the net about it working successfully like clomid for some.
Also, I suggest you ask gp for thyroid function test, I was underactive (though didn't realise till just before I got pg) and am convinced that ther was a link between short LP and underactive thyroid. Underactive thyroid is easily treated with thyroxin though you may have to fight for it if you're borderline.

Thanks ladies. My cycles have lengthened somewhat so I hope that taking it will lengthen my LP and bring OV forward. It has been cd24-26 that I've OVd recently.

christelle I do have an underactive thyroid that I've been being treated for for about 5/6 years and am currently on thyroxine.
What did you say to your GP? I'm afraid that if I go to the docs they won't take me seriously.

gps refuse to take it seriously even when pg. is astonishing! they wont acknowledge link with cycle issues either. if you are on thyroxin you should be ok but try to have tsh below 3.

I too am interested in this - I generally ovulate around cd25-28 but the AF arrives 8-10 days after this and I wondered whether b6 would help - do you take it all through the cycle and can you start at any point - I'm cd5 at the moment x

Good point Mummytothearkbuilder. I just started pill popping at the start of my cycle on the basis that it would be a build up effect, but I might be wasting a lot of pills!

I may be wrong, but Ill mention it anyway, Im sure I read somewhere here that if you start taking B6, and you get PG, you need to continue taking it, because there is a chance of MC if you stop. Might be worth researching this.

Just wanted to add to this thread that the Asda B6 is is only 10mg, and usually 50mg is needed to make a difference to LP.

Hello all - I wondered if any of you know whether the LP length is the number of days from ovulation to first signs of spotting or from ovulation to first day of proper AF? As for me I usually get spotting for 2 or 3 days before AF. B6 didn't really seem to make very much difference for me. Thanks!

TheNewShmoo · 06/04/2013 21:20

LP is time from ovulation to proper AF
