I'm aware the stats aren't great but I'm currently on the IUI waiting list and would really appreciate anyone sharing their experiences, good or bad.

Thanks guys Smile

Hello, it worked twice for us. The first go we miscarried and I am now 37 weeks pregnant after 2nd go. We had stimulated IUI using menopur injections.
Good luck

Yes. It worked first go for us and now we have a DD who is a year old Grin Our nurse told us that there was a 10% chance with me being 36 and DH with a really really poor sperm count. Apparently another woman also got pregnant on the first attempt using IUI at the same time as me. Good luck!

jemima how long did you wait? How many times did you have to go the hospital? Wondering how much annual leave to save as can't really take it as hospital leave.

Not quite as good news as the other ladies soph but I had BFP and a mc after IUI4, done another 2 and no good news yet, but given the odds I am still hoping. It does not always happen immediately. (Mine happened after a lap&dye)

Thanks for sharing lemon and sending positive thoughts. Will you be referred for IVF if you don't have any success at IUI? x

Hi soph, sorry I missed your questions.
With each IUI cycle I prob needed 1 app to collect drugs (think this was day 3 of period) then a couple of scan appointments to ensure trigger shot was timed properly (each if these apps was around an hour) then half a day for actual IUI (sperm collection first thing then sitting around whilst they clean it up and get it ready) I then took the afternoon off to put my feet up. If you get a positive pg test you then will have a scan at 6 and 9 weeks before being discharged into normal maternity care. Mine were on the NHS so this regime may differ a bit privately. Worth mentioning that you will have an app with the consultant before it all starts to go through history etc so that is another hour or so. My work were pretty good about the apps (my male boss and his wife had gone through s similar thing 20 years ago) and I managed to time in working from home on the days when I had apps, allowing me to make up the time. Not sure if that may be an option for you?
I combined the IUI with fertility acupuncture (I found a zita west affiliated one near me) and also sought homeopathic help second time round (though this was to also address recurrent miscarriage).
Fire away with any other q's

Sorry, you also asked how long I waited. There was no waiting list in my area. We had been ttc for around 20 months with 2mc's and went private in Nov 11. The lovely consultant advised us to see him at his NHS clinic. We went in jan 12 and started first cycle feb 12, unfortunately miscarried then had second cycle June 12. We would have been allowed to do 6 cycles back to back.

Oh how annoying that theres a waiting list here! I just assumed that was the norm! We've been ttc for 20months now so is nice to think that there might actually be light at the end of the tunnel.
