Period late after HSG, testing negative, any ideas?

Hi all,

I had an HSG this cycle, it was painful and doc said my tube could have been blocked (I only have the one). My period is late by two - four days as cycle is 26 to 28 days long. I've never been late before. I have back ache and cramps but no other symptoms. Took a test this morning which said negative (crushed, obviously). So I'm confused really. I have been charting this month and it looks like I ovulated on CD19, which again is late for me.

Does anyone have words of wisdom or experience? I'm 42 so could it be the menopause? My bloods indicate I'm still ovulating.....

Thanks guys

Which PG test did you use? Some of them, especially the digital ones, register at a higher level of hormone than others (ranges between 10 and 25 mIU/ml) so sometimes a negative test is inaccurate.

Hi, I used the clearblue digital. I did one last night and then thought "what the heck" and did the other one this morning! I just don't feel pregnant so wondering what else might cause me to be late or miss my period?

Hmm well clearblue aren't the most sensitive so it might be worth testing again in a day or so. To be fair I didn't feel pg for a long time with my DD - actually pretty much until the hump appeared Grin. But it could be stress maybe that's making you late. The wait is horrible isn't it Hmm

Yes, it is really horrible especially as so many people seem to fall pregnant after the HSG.

Sigh

I'll pop back when something happens (I hate never knowing the end of people's threads Grin)

Thanks Lions.

If you ovulated later than normal, then your period will be later than normal. Presuming your luteal phase is 13-14 days long (based on you usual cycle length), then your period is not due until Day 32-33.

It is probable that the HSG caused your body to postpone ovulation.

You are right Frankelly, just did another test (negative) and just had a little bit of red jelly stuff so looks like its on its way. Will try again next month.

I'm disappointed but also relieved AF has finally shown up. Thanks for your help and support guys Flowers
