Hi. My daughter is only 7 months so I'm not thinking of having another one soon, I was just wondering from all of your experiences what the best age gap? Bearing in mind in 30 and want another one under the ages of 35.

Hi, I don't think you'll get a clear answer on this, as people's views vary enormously. Try searching old threads as I've read a few on this topic as I was curious too! People seen to say that they either:

  • had them close to get the baby stage over with more quickly, so they would be able to play together, be friends, do similar activities as a family, have a shorter period of disrupted work for career reasons

OR
  • have a gap to really focus on each child being a baby, that an age gap doesn't affect whether they'll be friends, older ones can help with younger ones, less attention seeking/competition, lower childcare costs if one at school etc

For what it's worth I have a similar aged DC1 to you and we will be trying again quite soon as we'd like a smaller gap- 18mo minimum. I am 31. Also, we are thinking of maybe having more than 2 so that's also a factor for us.

HTH.

Oh and apparently there are some health reasons (for the mother) as to why a min 2 year gap is better.
