Hi. We're TTC potential DC2 - I'm 40 and have PCOS and I'm just trying to work out what to do about metformin and/or clomid.
I've been on metformin a few times and it's had varying effects on my PCOS, periods, weight etc. I conceived DD1 (almost 2) after I'd lost a load of weight (but was still overweight) and was on metformin, but was having very long and irregular cycles. I was seeing a consultant gynaecologist and had an appointment to consider clomid in the November but got pregnant in the June - we weren't really trying and it happened very easily, which I was enormously surprised about.
Now that we're actually trying for DC2 it's all a bit different. My cycles have been long (up to 60 days) and very irregular since I stopped breastfeeding in about June.
I've just gone back on metformin and am upping my dose to 1500mg, but when I saw my GP she said that metformin and clomid were now the recommended treatment for TTC with PCOS.
Is that other people's experience? I'm going to do some research on clomid and make another appointment with my GP but thought I'd ask around here.
Thanks.
