Hi, I wondered if anyone could give me feedback on whether they've had much success on clomid. I have pcos and am on metformin, my gyny has put me on clomid, 50mg days 2-6 (I'm now on cd 12 and using opk twice a day). Firstly has anyone had success like this and secondly I'm a little worried as my gyny isn't giving me a follicle scan or anything, just said have a progesterone blood test day 21. Alot of my friends had scans and injections and I'm worried my gyny isn't being thorough..any advice would be great pls.

Also if this month doesn't work should I see a specialist before going up to 100mg a day (as doc said that's the next move)...so I have a scan etc on thst round??

Sorry didnt read your other posts your probably realized that!! smile

Soph80 it's not unusual for clomid to make your cycle longer.

I have three kids from clomid, highest dose was 200mg. I know high but I was on it for two months and got pregnant!! I was gradually moved up also. Don't be scared to increase the dose, some people need more than others! Good luck!!!

I have had success on Clomid, in that it's made me ov for the last 3 cycles. No +ve pg test here but it's moving in the right direction. There's a long-running Clomid thread here with lots of stories on it... come and join us smile

Hi Ladies,
I was wondering who else has had some good results on Clomid? I have just started, on day 2 - fingers crossed!

Soph80 Sun 27-Jan-13 08:33:37

Well had my day 23 test but don't get results until 12th Feb. Im not worried though as I was ovulating before clomid. Got a BFN yesterday. Really annoying as not sure what day AF due (its some time next week) as had my phone nicked with all my info in it grrrr.

Hey soph80 any news on your clomid? X

Soph80 Fri 25-Jan-13 21:24:01

just re-read your post zebs, great news that the clomid worked! x

Soph80 Thu 24-Jan-13 21:42:36

i don't blame you. I'm feeling the same, probably as I'd put so much on clomid working. Think maybe this month I have further to fall as actually thought Id get pregnant once I started clomid. I am worried about DHs morphology (was 3%) although the doc said its nothing to worry about x

Zebs Thu 24-Jan-13 12:54:13

I got my progesterone test back, clomid worked, I ovulated!! Level was 80.7 anyone know what that reading means?

Zebs Thu 24-Jan-13 08:33:23

Francescarose Thankyou for your answer, so what is the hair analysis etc? Never heard of it??

Zebs Thu 24-Jan-13 08:31:55

I get my test results today but now all I'm worried about are his results, he has another test Friday. How are you doing?

Francescarose Wed 23-Jan-13 21:55:48

Hi

I had a shock diagnosis of pcos in 2008. I tried clomid which didn't work for me but then did hair analysis and vitamin supplements through foresight preconception and conceived after two months on the program. Might be worth a try in conjunction with the clomid?

Xx

Soph80 Wed 23-Jan-13 21:11:11

Zebs - I could practically write your post! I'm on 1st course of clomid and have also perhaps had too high hopes for the "magic pills". My DH also has low sperm morphology. The doc said not to worry about it but its hard not to. When do you find out about your progesterone test? Did it go ok?

Zebs Wed 23-Jan-13 18:19:47

I'm just panicking now as I've had so much hope for clomid to work and now he has morphology issues with his sperm analysis!!! Think I might as well have a
Large glass of wine after all (been off it for wkd)!

DH has some sprem issues too - marginal but enough to be flagged in the analysis.

I had fairly strong PG symptoms - but not til about day 35 or so. I couldn't bring myself to test/think about it any earlier in case it wasn't real. Had funny metallic taste in mouth, things tasted strange, v emotional/teary. In fact, I did a live POAS thread on MN and everyone told me I was defo pregnant from my symptoms and they were right. I think the twins thing meant that the hormones were higher than normal anyway.

Thankyou guys for answering! I'm in tears here at work thinking I've wasted clomid and now we both have issues we'll never get there!

Zebs

Semen analysis often has to be repeated; one poor test result does not necessarily mean there is a male factor issue. He's probably kept quiet because he erroneously thinks that a poor result is linked to his virility.

This does illustrate two important points;-
1. The couple should together receive the semen analysis results.
2. Tests should be done in tandem

Sperms are actually quite complicated things and there is much that is not understood. Simple remedies won't do any harm but don't keep throwing good money away on treatments that may well not address the actual problem of morphology.

Clomid and met seem to work better than just clomid on its own. Ensure you are properly monitored whilst on it.

Using OPKs whilst on clomid is not adviseable as clomid encourages more LH to be produced, the kit could well be reading that increased level instead.

JustplainoldBuggerlugs Wed 23-Jan-13 11:49:34

Don't panic - there are things that can be done to improve sperm quality. Cutting down on booze, smoking and fatty processed foods and also taking a good quality zinc supplement can help. Try to find an independent health food shop (not Holland and Barratt) and go speak to them.

If its a hormonal issue, the hospital can potentially prescribe something. Its not a deal breaker honestly.

Hi guys can anyone answer me!!! Panicking a bit just discovered my bd sperm results had problems, volume and mobility ok but head deformities, he wasn't v forthcoming when he had first test and now it's come out he needs another! I'm angry and upset and worried, also that wasted going on clomid!!! Can anyone help?

Soph80 Tue 22-Jan-13 19:32:06

Zebs - I will, although I'm not too worried as I was ovulating before! My doc just reckons it might not happen every month. Don't feel any different yet confused despite doing everything we should have this month! Good luck for tomorrow x

Zebs Tue 22-Jan-13 19:27:10

Soph80: Let me know how you get on, my progesterone test is tomorrow, although I'm convinced it hasn't work.... I'm so nervous, I don't want to be told it didnt work!!
Freebutton bee did you get a ton of symptoms as soon as you fell pregnant? Did you know right away you were pregnant?

Soph80 Mon 21-Jan-13 20:40:06

My doc didn't arrange any scans which is weird, as everyone else seems to have them!

Zebs Mon 21-Jan-13 19:19:14

Thank you florin. My next step is 100mg if didn't ovulate. I am getting positive ovulation tests around the right day of month though, so my previous progesterone blood test may have just been done too early for my cycle I got positive opk day 18) and was day 19 as 21 fell on a Sunday!!
I'm hoping this test is good as had clomid his month and got a positive opk on day 14!! Has anyone taken etformn Nr clomid??

Florin Mon 21-Jan-13 19:12:00

I used clomid first month I did 50mg which didn't work and the 2nd time I had 100mg which worked. I think you should be scanned though. My specialist said to do ovulation tests which I did but never got a positive and I must have ovulated as I got pregnant that month! Good luck hope it works for you.
