Does anyone else get pee'd off when people who dont post just enter the competitions and then WIN?

If im not on my own in this misery, would it be possible to say only enter comps when you've made so many posts for instance?

Or am I being mean and nasty?

If it helps, I never used to post much (did a heck of a lot of lurking though, judging by my phone bill) until I won the first chef on board comp. Felt really guilty. Post more often now. Even started a few inane threads. You may wish that I went back to lurking, but it's too late now as we've recently gone on broadband. No reason to get off MN (except food, sleep...)None posting recent winner (?) may also start posting now?

How do you know they aren't regulars who've changed their name?

And anyway, why should posting be a criteria for enetering a competition? Suerly the whole point is that by submitting a review you're adding to the real (original value) of Mumsnet..?

I sort of know where you're coming from though - but I'm not sure you can prevent people from entering competitions (unless of course you made them only eligible to people who'd paid a subscription?)

Anyway, for what it's worth, I've been on MN for over 4 years! And I'm looking forward to going to Chessington (never been!) Thank you Mumsnet!

I think it should be fiddled once in a while though to let regulars win. I've never won anything.

From a thread in March 2003, when MN reached 10,000 members, part of Justines post:

"Some of you will remember the lively discussions on the talk boards last year about whether it made sense to make joining mumsnet a sufficient condition for competition entry. Wasn't that encouraging cynical types to join purely to enter our competitions, never to be seen again, some wondered. We thought that was a good point and since then we've used other entry requirements. We think we've filtered most of the prize hunters out of our membership records now."

Nothing changes. 2 years on and still debating

Bugger. Just found out that I've won another competition. (Yeo Valley). I thought you were pissed off with somebody else.

Am just off to start another thread to say that 1. You all must not be entering comps very much and 2. I'm not entering comps for a bit to leave the field open.
