Is sickness a normal side effect of teething?

I know I am probably being totally paranoid, pfb and all that. But my dd has been sick several times (she has very rarely been sick since she was born - probably more sick in the last few days than in all of the last 6 mths) but only in the evening of the last 3 days and I can't decide why. She is a little over 6mths so this may be teething related but no sign of actual teeth yet. Should I be worried or not?

Have just phoned my health visitor to ask about this same question-my 7mo DS has been having diarrhea on and off all week, and keeps being slightly sick ( and has also given a horrendous tummy bug to the rest of us) and he is definitely teething.

The HV said that when babies are teething their immunity is down, which makes them more susceptible to sicky bugs. So the teething in itself doesnt make them sick, just makes them more likely to catch stufff, whether snuffly nose or sickness or whatever.

With DS1 I remember months and months of this kind of illness when he was teething.

Hope this helps.

But maybe you should phone your GP if you're not sure? Hope she gets better soon! xx
