Help - been really ill since last week, got out of hospital yesterday, supposed to be flying to visit my parents today, with 4yo ds and 5mo db - which would be great; 2 weeks of just sitting in the garden, swimming in the pool etc. 5 mo has runny nose, is sneezing and coughing a bit - and has temp of 38/100.4.

Called ped, she said it's fine to go as long as the fever's not "high". What would be the cut off for you? Am feeling a bit confused. Obviously don't want to subject db to awful journey.

I flew out to see my parents at christmas when both me and my then 6mo baby had flu. It was an awful journey for me but he wasn't any worse off. It was so worth it when we got there.

Really? I'm so worried about him having a high fever on the plane. I guess I just keep checking it and give him some medicine if it seems to be going up.

I think it wouldn't be great for your child, not great for you just being out of hospital. However, more than that I think it's pretty appalling to knowingly inflict your family's germs on a planeful of unsuspecting travellers........how's about thinking of other people for a change?
