Not sure about DS, does this sound normal?

He is 2.10. Recently he has lost his appetite, his 10m sister easily eats twice as much as he does. He also looks permantly tired, he normally sleeps 12 hours at night and doesn't have naps anymore. He seems to be ok in himself apart from being a little bit more emotional. A couple of months ago I put him into 3-4yr clothes and they were only a little bit big but now I need to get the 2-3 stuff back out.

I'm not sure if I need to worry as he still seems to be ok in himself and is still full of beans. Something just seems to be niggling in the back of my mind but I don't want to take him to the doctor to be laughed at for being nuerotic

Can you take him to your health visitor - and have his weight and height checked? Did you take him at 2 years, if so there should be a record of what percentile he was on, and that might be a starting point to see whether there's anything to be concerned about.

My DS is about the same age, and is being a bit more emotional at the moment, but I'm hoping it's just a phase.

I think if you have something niggling, then you do need to follow it up to set your mind at rest..

If he is loosing weight to the extent that his clothes no longer fit him, I would seek the advice of a health professional.

Has he got much taller recently? Quite often kids of this age just suddenly slim down - DD has - and it's weird, she's now going down clothes sizes but hasn't lost weight IYSWIM, she's just lost the toddler slouchy pot bellied look .

If you are really concerned go see the GP - perhaps he's not feeling well. Does he have any big changes coming up that he might be scared of - like preschool for example, or has he just left nursery?

I would also take him to the GP. He needs checking, he sounds unwell to me. They won't laugh at you for being neurotic. They are there to help.

Do take him to GP and request a full blood count, there could be a problem with his hb levels. Anemia is not always caused by lack of iron, mild viruses such as parvo virus or mycoplasma could cause low hemoglobin levels as well.
