this morning on the way to drop dd off at school ds started to fall over 5 times then his legs just went from under him and he couldnt walk ,very wobbly
couldnt get him in to gp and nhs direct were so busy ,i was so worried i called 999
they took ds to the childerns ward,he is a bit better than he was walikng wise but still weak on one side ,they were gonna do bloods to see if he had an infection but didnt as he contiued to recover but have to take him back in tomorrow for another check up.
any one got any clues on what this could be ??

My dd2 did someting similar a few years ago,the Drs eventually decided it was something to do with her hip I was told to return if it happened again, luckily it never has.

my ds1 is 3 this month and he did this about 6 months ago but his leg sort of twisted abit on a slide. didnt hurt him but he couldnt walk, saw out of hours gp, said same thing about the hip. It does keep happening randomly though it happened last week and he'll sort of throw his leg and not use it properly but doesnt seem to hurt

it did spook me because about 5 years ago dh had a brain heamorage and had to have brain surgery
just given him a bath and he slipped over loads (not like him )
he also keeps putting his hand out to support himself when getting up from the floor?

My DS had this when he was about 22 months old.

He wouldn't put ant weight on his left side and kept falling over and crying in pain when we tried to move it.

We went straight to docs who sent us straight to hospital.

DS fell asleep whilst we were waiting, woke up and just started walking round the waiting area like nothing had happened.

I'd go back tomorrow but not read to much into it. It seems it's quite a common problem.

he isnt in any pain though which is strange ,they wondered if it was in any way linked to the skin infection he had on his face ? i posted on here about it pic on profile ,he had antibioptics for it whcih seemed to have almost cleared it up ,the peadeatrician said sometimes infections can cause the muscles to go weak, they were gonna do bloods and put the numbing cream on but decided not to as his walking improved

Hi candy!
I wonder if you heard them mention Guillain Barre syndrome which is weakness after a viral infection and is very rare.
I don't think they think he has it ,more they wanted to exclude it and considered it but felt happy it wasn't that.
Could have been a number of things even faintness in the warm weather.
Hope he is ok tomorrowx

i asked my gp today about ds1 and she says i really need to get to gp when it happens again so they can document it. she said it might be something called irritable hip or something like that
