Cleaning chickenpoxy face.... what can I use?

Have been looking at past threads but can't find specific reference to what can be used on child's face. My dd (7) broke out in chickenpox yesterday, and now her face is very spotty. Chemist said not to put calamine on her face - can I wipe with dilute bicarb do you think, and if so how dilute should it be?

Anyone? By the way, I'd like to know what people usually use to clean their young children's faces as I've just been using warm water, but perhaps that's not enough.

Hello. I had chickenpox as an adult (very nasty). I used cool water with a drop or two of teatree in as it keeps away infections and doesn't sting! When pox had gone, but scars still present, I used a vitamin E with calendula moisuriser to help get rid of scarring.

I bathed in a cool bath with teatree and put calamine over the rest of my body (well my parents did as i was too ll)

Just clean if dirty with water on cotton wool.

I used calamine on face - but not near orrificies and was fine.

Piriton is 10 times better for the itching though. No calamine needed.

I use aueous cream as a soap subsitute for DD who has excema. When she had CP we used one with calomile in it from boots. It is very gentle. Just pop a tiny bit on damp cotton wool and wash her arefully so you don't take the spots off.
