DS (12 months) is having his MMR this morning. Is it okay to take him to nursery afterwards? I thought it would be fine but am now questionning myself?
Thanks

My DS had no ill effects after MMR, the effects if any are not felt for a few weeks normally.

yes mine was fine after it the reaction usually occurs 7 to 10 days after if they are going to have one
ds2 didn't have any ill effects at all from either the first or booster dose

DS also had no side effects. The nurse said any side effects would show up about week afterwards but he was fine.

sorry for slight hijack-
my DS has got his too today but he's had a cold.
will he be ok to have the jab?

No I probably wouldn't give the MMR if he had a cold, and definitely not if he has a temperature.

I delayed ds2 when he had a cold the practice nurse will ask if they have been fit and well and won't do it so I would cancel the appt

I think as long as they don't have a fever it's okay but best to check with your surgery before making a wasted journey.

Thanks all for your advice. I wouldn't take DS if he had a cold either. He has a permanantly runny nose but otherwise fine.

I asked the same thing when DS was due to have his and the advice was no, wait. I'm glad I did as the mild sniffle he had midweek turned into the worst cold he'd ever had by the weekend. I dread to think what he'd have been like if he'd had the jab too.
We waited until he was 100% well, and like I say, no side effects so I'm really pleased we did.

no - I really would have a child vaccinated while they were unwell - temperature or not.

Postpone if your child has a cold, esp if a temperature present - just don't forgot to rebook! Nursery fine after MMR but both my boys had reactions about 5/7 days afterwards being clingy and having runny noses (strangely!) and generally a bit under the weather, so just be aware that you might need to keep ds off nursery later in the week if he does have any sort of response.
