How would I go about getting the single measels, mumps and rubella vaccine for DD?

I know I would have to pay privately, but who do I speak to about it? Do I ask my GP? or HV?

DD is due to have the combined MMR on Tuesday but after reading another thread on here I am no longer comfortable (don't think I ever was TBH) for DD to have the combined MMR and would prefer her to have the singles vaccines.

I have arrannged for dd to have singles with this clinic. She has her Measles jab on 24th Jan.

If you put roughly where you are, someone may be able to recommend a place.

I would recommend breakspear hospital in hemel hempstead.

GP/HV are usually not really supposed to be recommending places for singles.

FWIW - I rang my HV and she said she wasn't able to advise me on the singles as the NHS 'line' is that children should have the MMR. I think there's a website called Jabs or something though, will have a look.

I'm looking into singles again (have been to-ing and fro-ing for over 15 months now!) but am wondering if anyone knows if the singles are thought to have no risks?

I wish I could just make a bloody decision and stick with it.

I started a thread called something like 'Are there any ill effects with the singles' and no one replied. Versus the MMR threads which have hundreds and hundreds of responses.

TBH - we've gone with the singles for my peace of mind. I would be a nervous bloody wreck if she even acted slightly differently after the MMR, and I know I would convince myself that something was amiss.

My understanding is that the risk comes from the combination of the three vaccines rather than the individual ones.

Well what I have read so far on the jabs site the single doses still have their risks. The Measels vaccine is associated with neurological problems. Although it is very rare.

I need to sit down and have a good read of it before I can make my decision on the matter.

All I know ATM is that I was very reluctant before I made the decision to book DD's MMR and after reading a thread on here (news topic) I am even more so.
